Right after surgery, generally one drinks Protein Shakes. Several months after surgery, one can integrate Protein Bars into the mix. Later as the meal volume increases, one can transition to obtaining the required Protein through consuming high protein meals.

You taste buds may change after surgery so try a variety of protein shakes until you find one that is agreeable. Some stores (like GNC) sell little packets of Protein Shake powder so you can try a variety of flavors.

Focus on Protein Drinks that contain a fair amount of protein and a minute amount of sugars.

There are many different types of formulations on protein shakes. I would recommend that you keep experimenting until you find one that you can tolerate. You don't have to like it, just tolerate it. I used Muscle Milk Light (Vanilla Creme) powder blended with Water and a half a banana. That worked for me. But on the opposite end of the spectrum, you might try premixed Isopure.

While you're still on the liquid phase it'll be Protein Shakes. Once you get to soft foods it'll be eggs, flaky fish, cottage cheese and other things.

try Bone Broth, it does not taste like broth, it is not very flavorful - it sort of tastes like meat tea, if you need to you can add a bouillon cube or salt if you prefer it to taste like broth

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
