Two questions - 4days post op

Recommended Posts

I am four days post op. I was told to walk 15 min every 2 hours while in hospital. How much am I supposed to be walking now? Should I be getting up in the middle of the night to walk still?

Second question - why is my stomach so bloated? It is constantly making noises.

Thanks!!!!!

I would say not to get up in the middle of the night but that is me. I think they got you up like that to help prevent blood clots and to help with gas. I would call your surgeon's office if you are not sure what you should do.

If you're walking enough during the day, you shouldn't need to get up in the middle of the night. The first few nights after surgery, I woke up a couple times in the middle of the night and did some leg raises in bed since I was awake. My tummy is also still making noises—I figure that should dissipate with time.

Your stomach will never stop making noises, when they do WLS they insert an alien! I think mine likes to try to communicate with its friends , especially at night or when it’s quiet in a room full of people

My stomach moans and makes wierd noises after I drink or eat. I try not to talk on the phone directly after eating or drinking because it’s embarrassing.

But many people say that's just the nature of the sleeve, maybe it's so happy it wants to SING?

I did not get up in the middle of the night but my dr had me on blood thinners to avoid blood clots for 2 weeks once i was home. I did walk as much as i could tho while awake, and actually would go for a walk outside for 15 min or so walking up the block. I gradually increased it as i could handle it..

As far as your stomach, its up to your stomach LOL... mine has kinda quieted now that i am between 2 and 3 month post op but sometimes it decides to whistle while i work LOL.

It took me a week to get back to a regular sleep schedule after not being able to sleep in the hospital, so I was up in the middle of the night walking around, but I would think that as long as you walked when you're up during the day and didn't sit around too much, you're fine.

My stomach bloating went down in about a week but it still gurgles all the time, especially when I eat or drink there seems to be a lot of air getting in there.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
