Going home!

Recommended Posts

Surgery at 8:00 this morning, heading home as soon as they hand me the paperwork. They told me what made the difference for me is that I got out of bed and started walking as soon as I got to my room. Fought through the grogginess and pressure. What they say is true, the more you move, the sooner that pressure goes away.

They've been keeping me full of pain meds today, so I know I will have an awakening once I get home, but at least I will be home!

Thinking about all my fellow December 18th pals!!!

That's awesome! I walked as soon as I got to my room too. It's just procedure with my surgeon for sleeve patients to stay one night in the hospital. If I could have gone home sooner, I would have though. Congrats!

I walked right after surgery too but ended up staying 2 nights because I was really nauseous and couldn’t keep anything down! Good luck at home and on your journey to good health!!

I was the same way, my surgeon sent me home the same day, and I honestly would have to say that I prefer that method. I hear about people not being able to drink anything until the next day, or having issues getting up and going to the bathroom because the nurse has several rooms and she is assisting others and giving medications. And of course they do not want you to get out of bed because you are a fall risk. I was groggy for the first 12 hours post surgery but after that I was up and moving. Yes it hurt, but the pain went away day by day, and as the pain went away it actually felt good to get up and move around. By the way let me take a second to say CONGRATULATIONS!!! 😁

That is Awesome! Welcome to the Losers Bench. I was in the hospital for 2 nights but that is the protocol for my Surgeon. He does the leak test during surgery and then the day after. Once the leak test is done you can start liquids.. If all goes well on day one after surgery in the hospital and you are up and moving around, going to the bathroom, etc. Then on day two post op you can go home.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
