2 Days Post Op and Semi Regret My Decision

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. I had my surgery (sleeve) on Wednesday 11/14 and I’m a total wuss when it comes to pain and discomfort and am regretting it so bad right now. It hurts to drink anything. I’m nauseous. I don’t mind the stomach soreness much (just feel like I did a bunch of ab crunches).

I’m supposed to be drinking my Protein Shakes but I’m scared to even try lol sucking on the popsicles give me cramps and I know this will “pass” but I keep thinking, what if it doesn’t. I feel stupid for typing this :(

You're not stupid...you're healing! I'm sure things will get better. Just relax and take things day by day 💓

I think most of us have regrets in the beginning. This is a lot harder than we thought. I mean, what's the big deal about sipping Water, right? And definitely, the fact that this is a permanent alteration to our bodies hits us like a punch. But, have faith, it gets better and easier day by day and then week by week.

If cold liquids give you cramps, try warm herbal teas. They can be very soothing. Good luck!

In the beginning I would get a big cup of ice and slowly sip it as it melted. This way I didn't cramp or take sips bigger than my swollen stomach could handle. It gets much better after the first week and then each week afterward.

Immediate post surgery is a mind fu*k and an endurance contest. Rest. Be gentle. Be creative to figure out how to do YOUR part in healing (water, Protein, walking, sleeping/resting). And watch lots of good flicks on TV! it will get batter. Swearsies.

You’re so cute! Thank you! It really is a total mind f**k... it’s so hard but have to convince myself I can do it.

The first few days are the worst. It gets easier as time passes. You'll be okay!

We're all different and only you can say for sure. I work from home and was working at 4 days. But I had a very very easy time of things and could rest when I needed. And my "bitchy boss" actually allowed me to take naps at will...hehe

I'm a wuss to when it comes to pain so I understand, but trust me time will go by so fast and you will start feeling amazing....just keep telling yourself, " I did this for a good reason and this pain is just temporary"

You got this @micci_micci33 😉

BTW: You are not stupid at all, it's ok to express your feelings, that's what this forum is for...we have been there so we all understand ((Hugs))

Of course you’re regretting it. You’re sitting in the suck right now!

You won’t be very shortly, though, so hang on! It gets so awesome!

I'm on Day 9, so the pain is fresh in my mind. The stomach pain got remarkably better at Day 6 and I haven't needed anything for pain since Day 5. I'm very surprised that they didn't give you a nausea patch. I had a nausea patch in the hospital and they put a new one on before I was discharged. Nausea is pretty easy to manage with meds, I would suggest you call your surgeon and get them to prescribe some nausea meds for you. As for that crampy feeling, I still get it when I am drinking, my doctor said it is normal. It is fleeting after a swallow and it is getting less each day. In a few days you will see the scale moving faster than you ever thought possible and you will start to focus on that. I'm struggling with my fluids and Protein but each day I've seen measurable improvement.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
