...to go to the gym and get eyeballed in a good way from the ladies there. Definitely keeps me motivated. I remember the days not too long ago where I would be eyeballed everywhere I went just because I was a 6'3" 400+lb guy and looked out of place in any setting. The new way of getting eyeballed is so much better. :)

Isn't it crazy. I'm 36 days post, only down 30 so far. Threw away all my size 16, all of them!! I had nothing to wear going back to work. I usually just stuck the larger sizes in back of closet cuz i know I'd grow back in them some day!! And i did! Now my closet is empty. Gone. Shopping for clothes now that are disposable. Cuz i won't be in them in a month. I'm in a size 12, and some of those feel swimmy! I look at the "skinny girls" now looking at me with a jealous look instead of condescending look. You didn't post a photo, but I'm certain you look great. Just getting this far has shown me I'm worth more than anyone ever thought i was, I don't need their approval any longer, toughest thing we will ever do. Believe in yourself.

No Joke! I the attention before was very much "Ugh, fat guy" Now it's more "Hey man, you using this equipment" "You want to jump in and work out with me" stuff. It's an amazingly different feeling, sad, seeing people's unspoken bigotry over weight really is interesting as well as very sad, but, it's nice to be on the other side of that issue again.

It is a bit funny, people that never talked to me before the surgery now do, women and men.

Same here. My therapist insists it has nothing to do with my weight loss, it's any additional confidence I have because of the weight loss, blah blah blah. I disagree with her vehemently. More people talk to me and, more importantly, they don't condescend to me.

I'm going to agree with this, sure, *some* of it is added confidence. But, I've worked with people before surgery that didn't remember me afterwards and they treated me TOTALLY differently. Even people in passing, we have a lot of nurses, residents and students, and the "in passing" hallway interactions are 100% different. Female nurses/residents that would "1000 yard stare" when I walked past, now engage and say hi, same folks, different me, no time for confidence as it's just a hallway "hi" / "good day" etc. Yet, the feedback from them has changed greatly.

Yeah umm has everything to do with being fat. People look away from you. Like past you. When people haven’t experience being obese not just overweight it’s s totally different ball game. Like when waiter comes to the table and barely make eye contact when you order but with your trim parents they do. It’s unreal. I’ve been up and down all my life with weight loss and there is def a difference hot obese people are treated. In shale people just don’t get it’s not calories in work out so be it. They don’t get it at all. It took decades until my family finally understood what I had been going too. Eh screw anyone who doesn’t get us. Now it’s our time to thrive! (; good luck to all of you!

Why no, she's as skinny as a rail. Why do you ask?

Because I think only someone who was never fat can attribute all these changed reactions from other people to "having more confidence now".

It was a rhetorical question.

I started at 472lbs and was judged everywhere. today I am a muscular 280lbs and guess what... I'm still judged LMAO... its a different look I get now but its obvious. I also have many folks that wouldn't talk before that want to talk now... it is what it is...

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
