Will be 6 weeks post-op when traveling for Thanksgiving...

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I just had my 2 week post-op appointment and I feel great..Down 40 pounds since I began the pre-op diet. My 6 week appointment is the Monday before Thanksgiving and my wife and I are headed to LA for the holiday weekend. I'm concerned b/c we're staying at a hotel and I'll be forced to eat at restaurants for 4 straight days. I'm looking for advice re: which popular menu items I should lean, which I should avoid and any other tips. Thanks so much!

just stick to lean Proteins, nothing too processed or greasy.

At 6 weeks I was just experimenting. This week is 9 weeks post and I am still experimenting and some things that I would think wouldn't bother me, actually do.

Super easy, stick to the fresh veggies and lean meats, really easy to do! Avoid anything that could have added sugar (soups are bad for this) or anything fried. Separate out what you can eat first, then put the rest away, to avoid being tempted to over eat. Don't forget your base rules (don't drink while eating, don't drink for 20-30 mins after eating, etc) Don't forget to keep Water with you and stay hydrated, it's VERY easy to forget when traveling!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
