I'm enjoying my single self and there's nothing wrong with that. Why does everyone think they have to have a significant other to make them feel whole?

I like both my single self and my boo'd up self ....

I don't want to hijack your post@GreenTealael but I figured I'd let you all know that I'm going on my first date with a potential cardio partner since surgery tomorrow! They suggested a sushi place, I told them I had "stomach surgery" a couple months ago and have limited food options. They said it was not a big deal and suggested a burger pub and said I could have a drink (which I cant). Lol I decided not to be a pain and said sure with the intention of only having Water. We shall see how it goes...

Good luck! You'll do fine with just Water. Everyone is hydrating these days!

I think sushi is good date food (unless you're @GreenTealael :P), it's shareable, so you don't have a giant obvious uneaten plate of food in front of you. And sashimi is pretty much the perfect bariatric food.

I haven't tried sushi yet so I didn't really want my first time trying it post op to be while I'm on a date. Alsooo... sushi may be good date food but it sure isnt good pre- cardio food. [emoji40] [emoji40]

I put myself back out there this evening, on a dating site that is, wasn't quite brave enough to put my photo on there and have kept it private so I can choose who I share it with.

My most recent partner who I was with for almost ten years (went out separate ways about 20 months ago) I met online, so not a newcomer to online dating but do feel like it's all new again.

I’m divorced, dating is so awkward for me. The older I get the more corny I get. I’ve lost all my cool and just talk about how I’m on meds to keep my anxiety away. Reading this I see why I’m single lmao. But my meds have me so calm I don’t even give a f&ck

OMG I feel like I owe you guys an update:

(First and foremost:

Congrats to everyone like me Single AF but still trying. Welcome to all just finding this ridiculous drama filled thread, grab something carb free on plan and stay tuned)

Last guy i went on two dates with who obsessed over Exes, stopped texting me but I was really busy and didn't actually notice until he just text me twice in one day saying hi, then I guess it's over...

I'm like WTF, when did it start. I'm too busy for that nonsense so I never responded. He seems needy to he honest and all of my charitable causes are for well Water projects in Africa.

Part deux:

So doubling back, about a week ago I decided to once again delete my all of online dating profiles. Yes, again. Literally right before I did I get messaged by the seemingly nicest guy. So I tell him I'm deleting because he is super interested and I didn't want him to believe that I was a fake profile.

He gave me his number. I took the chance and we began texting as friends. Nothing crazy. But general life friend stuff. He is very very very very interested in me.

Problem:

He is a widower. With teens.

To be continued...

Because I love a good trilogy:

A day or two ago I met up with a very old friend that had been interested in me for a long time and took a day trip, while Im already on Vacation, and we partied the night away. Spent the (mostly PG13 may rated R) night together. I love him like family. Truly. We've been friends since childhood. I never understood the friend zone until now. He did all the right things, we have amazing chemistry and memories to always fall back on, but like metric to empirial I'm having a really hard time making the conversion.

Our friendship will not survive a lack luster tryst, and I'm not the type anyway. I like whole relationships. We've barely spoken since, but this is our regular holding pattern. Concerned he wants more, but knows my heart isn't in it...yet (?)

Plus we literally live hundreds of miles away...

Just go to social events and strike up conversations with those you are interested in. That is how I met my wife. Although I have not been single for awhile so maybe social events no longer exist. Half the young people we see at restaurants are more interested in their phones than the people they are with. :)

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
