November 2018 Sleevers!?!?

Recommended Posts

when were you sleeved?
I don’t live in the states, we don’t have SF gatorade or crystal lite where I live but I shall look for substitutes. I don’t experience the chest tightness when i’m full, I just start to feel a bit nauseated and that’s when I stop. but when i think about it, it seems like I can have a few more bites of food so i’m thinking this may not really be my cue to stop... i’m too scared to find out though haha.
Do they have G2 (Gatorade 2)? That's what I have to drink because I'm so dehydrated. It had half the sugar of regular. Also, I don't know if they have Wal-Mart's where you are, I'm not sure where you live, but they have drink mixes like Crystal light. 5 cals, sugar free.< br>

we only have regular gatorade and there’s no Walmart, sadly (I live in Dubai)

We do have pocari sweat though, I was wondering if anyone on here knows of it or has consumed it post op...

11/8, one month out today. It gets a wee bit easier every day.

Hi! Yes I do have some anti nausea meds, but am worried I’d be taking them every 6 hours lol. I have Isopure Protein Powder, unflavored. But just thinking of everything else makes me nauseous. 😭

Every six hours would be a lot! I have not tried Isopure, but if it is a clear, maybe you could mix it with some crystal light. I just started using GENEPRO and it is nice to be able to mix it in my crystal light..that way I am getting Protein and liquid at the same time:)

I looked up Pocari Sweat and the problem, I think, is that sugar is the first ingredient. Can you order from Amazon.com? They ship to UAE.

18 days post op and still having major soreness in my 2 large incisions.
One hurts when I basically do anything, bend, twist ect. The other is just a random sharp burning/pulling pain occasionally.
I'm not sure if this is normal to still be having pain [emoji30]
These are the 2 main incisions that we're sewn to muscle.

I had my surgery on the 29 November my scale hasn't moved since the 6 day where I had lost 8 lbs will see if it has moved today. I also didn't think I would stall so early, but they say it's part of the process, so I'm trying to be patient.

I was on the day after you on the 30th, only checking my weight once a week I reckon checking day to day will drive me crazy. Lost 10pounds on week one so will see what week two has in store. Hopefully the scale is still moving :s

Also uve lost a load of weight already relatively so give it time more will come the stats are for once on your side :)

Sorry that's happened to you, I'm kinda glad I'm not the only one. I've been stalled for 10 days now (started 3 days post op) - it blows my mind. Having it happen right after surgery is the worst, that's right when we could really use the motivation of seeing the scale drop

Mine went up 3 pounds on Monday. I attributed it to time of month coming soon and lack of BM.. I resolved issue number 2 ( haha no pun intended) and it went down a pound.. then this morning i stepped on the scale AFTER drinking a 16.9 ounce bottle of Protein Water and was down another pound. I am wondering if i was on a stall, broke it.. or whatnot. I will check again tomorrow. Issue #1 has not self resolved and i was sleeved 31 days ago.. (last time it arrived was night before surgery).. Hopefully i get back on track soon.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
