Anyone else having Bypass, Hiatal Hernia, Umbilical Hernia Combo?

Recommended Posts

I’m having all three tomorrow and have spent so much time reading, lurking and commenting on this site re: the bypass that I have neglected my info gathering on the hernias. I’ve read several posts regarding hiatal hernia and a couple of folks out there with umbilical hernias but none with my special combination. I know you’re out there!

What is the most challenging part of the recovery with all three? Personal experiences and anecdotes from friends wanted!

I had a small hiatal hernia repaired along with my bypass. I never knew the hernia was there before my EGD two months pre op.

I don’t believe my recover was any different than anyone else’s but things went smoothly all the way around for me.

@ Naughty Glitter Goddess, you sure got the trifecta there. I only have 2 of the3 but I Suspect the umbilical will be the straw that breaks that🐪🐫camels back. Many years ago, I had an open incision for gall bladder/appendix, I had a right paramedian, scar 3 above going to 3 inches below just to the right of my navel.I healed but it wasn't as fast and easy,as the lap incisions these days. Come cry on my,virtual shoulder if you like, Frustr8 understands and will listen.

Thank you, I'm a litter curious about how the umbilical hernia is going to go. Hopefully I won't have a huge incision but we'll see. I think my stomach muscles are going to be pretty angry for a while. I'll update in a few days!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
