IV fluids and frustration

Recommended Posts

Anyone else get extremely annoyed when they’ve had to get IV fluids and then weigh the next day and you’ve gained a few pounds?! I understand this happens (especially when you got 8 bags within 48 hours) but ugh it just frustrates me. The IV fluids weren’t for dehydration only - I had a stricture develop and had to stay overnights until the surgeon could get me in to fix it. I had finally gotten under 200 lbs too and now I’m back right at 200 lbs... Oh well I guess.. Now I’m just focusing on my fluids and sticking to my nutritionists advice.

It is frustrating...take it from someone who has had 6 abdominal surgeries. I kinda freaked out with this last surgery because I gained 28 lbs. My clothes wouldn't fit and it was painful to walk with all the Fluid. It comes off though...just takes time!

Vent away, mckenzie. This is one of those irrational frustrations that you understand but you don't want to accept. That intermediate goal of "under-200lbs" is one most of us have dreamed about, and here you had to see your weight go above that goal. I'd look at it this way: the first time you drop below 200lbs is a happy day... and so, when you drop below 200lbs again, you get to enjoy another happy day. Two happy days are better than one happy day, right?:)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
