Tomkitten just reminded me we do have one more guy, oh this guy is a real pip.
Wants to take people to John Glenn international for flights out $125-150 easy money.
He also comes out from hiding when Kenyon College or Mount Vernon Nazarene University has Parents Weekends-Those parents tip like Drunken Sailors.
He doesn't accept fares post Midnight, he might have to transport a drunk and somebody might try to hurt his "widdle self".
As an example I had Tomkitten to the ER, was there quite a while, released about 9:30 pm, called Mr Pip for transport, he's 6/10th of a mile away but refused the booking although I told him I would pay more than his usual rate. So I starting calli,g friends, finally found one who would answer, most everybody was out of town on a Saturday evening.
So I would not call him reliable.🚕

Update: He ended up canceling on me on Monday and the surgery was rescheduled for Wednesday at 5:30 AM. I don't know why he rescheduled but something must have happened on Monday. I got emotional but understood that he too is a person. I just don't see the sense in scheduling surgeries so late in the day but not my business.

Surgery is done.. Now comes the hard part. The pains are still bad. Gas and all. I was walking first day in the hospital right after surgery. Went home the following day after surgery. Had my first BM at 5:30 this morning but for some reason am feeling a lot of Gas pains today (3 days post). Made another post about it. Thank you all for your well wishes.

I was just looking through my packet, and my hospital has a integrated medicine team. So, they come in pre-op for massage and stuff. I know 3:30 isn't ideal, if it was me, I would be anxious all day. Maybe your hospital offers something like that to help with the "big day" nerves. Good luck on your big day!!

I imagine since we are more elective, maybe we don’t get the best surgical times. Mine was 1130 but they were running at least an hour behind

Update I did go to my 55th reunion as planned, since I haven't had my surgery, everyone. did recognize me. One old semi-friend said " Oh you look like you always did, only more so" Didn't have to put it on the p.a. system after all, second person I asked said she would be "honored" to do Tim First person, had an air-tight excuse- --'her D.H. is having, open heart surgery the end of August and she hopes to be helping him recover that week.
So my childhood friend Kathy will be doing it although it does mean she'll have get up at an ungodly hour to do it. Said to expect her at sometime after 3 AM, maybe towards 3:30. I honestly did not think I was liked enough to find someone. You see, I was a chubby nerd-ette who would rather read than to run around with the cliques that formed. Wasn't a cheerleader, majorette, flag corps member or dated a handsome jock, from the football team, thought I appeared faded back like part of the woodwork.
Funny thing, people who cut me dead at,18, were hugging me, acting, like I was really somebody. I would be flattered, but at my age, you seem be thrilled to find someone besides youself still breathing , that remembers some,of the same, things you do. I was born just before the Post-War baby boom, so my class wasn't as large as the 3 years following, still we numbered over 300, and now,if we counted right, maybe there are a 100?, Some died in Vietnam and the ensuing police actions the USA. was prone to participate in, but we lost 10 in the last year.
So Kathy,my cancer survivor friend who has kept her sense of humor through it all, I think the only disposable organs she has left are her gall bladder and tonsils, everything she has given up 1 or both to medical science. But like the old commercial for aTimex watch's "She's taken a licking and, keeps on ticking!"
So temporarily, I'm not annoyed myself but I'm sure something will turn up soon!👈😝👉

Congrats on getting your surgery date!

On the upside, you won't have a long, uncomfortable evening the first night out. By the time you're settled back in your room, it will pretty much be bed time. My surgery was about 1:30 in the afternoon and I the long evening (when I couldn't drink anything) was torture.

Thank you. How long did you have to wait for the swallowing test after your surgery?

What's a swallow test?

An upper GI following surgery to see if there are any leaks. If your surgeon orders one, you can't drink anything after surgery until the test is done.

I get it. I’d be annoyed too. I wanted my surgery to be first thing in the am so I didn’t have time to fret all day. It is what it is. I’m sorry!

Well it is Ragweed season in Ohio, I would like to take Roundup to each, and every plant! My worry? Sometimes this kicks. my sinusitis into gear and I fear getting a bacterial superinfection there. Its less than 3 weeks until my Surgery,Day, the culmination of 3 long sorrow-filled years. There,is an implicit threat if you are sick 2 weeks before they may consider postponing your surgery. Can't have that, I'm alreay taking,Zyrtec
every night, maybe start taking hot tea? And I already thought to up my Vitamin C. Anybody got a shaman in reserve? In Evangelical church the line is Lift my ____up in prayer! If I say Lift my nose up in prayer, it sounds like I'm asking to be made "stuck-up"! What do I do now?

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
