Am I the only one?

Recommended Posts

Am I the only one that gets annoyed by the number of women that post in the Guys' Room?

Please don't get me wrong, I have the utmost respect for women and consider them peers and equals.

I guess the rub is that women dominate, for obvious reasons (80/20), the general forum and I personally don't and rarely see men post in the Gals' room. It feels like an invasion of the one place that should be The Guys' Room. And, I've read the excuses about how they don't know there in here. To me, they are just that, excuses. I can read a URL just like everyone else.

Hope this doesn't start a $hit storm, just want some perspective. Oh and to be clear, I want it from the Men.

I haven't been on here in ages, but I thought a reply might be in order. I remember this topic years back and I see it is still an issue. I realize the mens room is maybe to discuss male issues but really.....anyone can read them, including women, so having women respond in the mens room shouldn't be much different. Never know.....they might have something useful to contribute......even in a man's room, about male stuff.

So, my thoughts are......it's not likely to change so just go with the flow. And maybe you just throw a jab or two in the powder room.....;)

Fair point well made. However, I think it's more about respecting boundaries. I respect theirs. I don't care who actually reads my posts, but when I post in the guys room it's because I'm looking for the Male perspective or comradeory. Otherwise I'd post it in the appropriate general forum.

Thanks for your comments and opinion.

Personally, I respect the rules. It says "no men" in the women's room.. so I don't post or reply there. Just because someone CAN do something, doesn't mean they SHOULD do something. It's a respect thing, but I guess not everyone seems to care, I'll joke around and point it out to some members posting in the Guys' room... but I've seen others ask women not to post, or let them know it's the guys room... and they just don't care.

To me. It's about the rules and the respect in following the rules.

@Matt Z

Thank you. My point exactly. I don't expect anything to change, but It feels good to vent.

There are boundaries and then there are boundaries... and respect is respect. Although in my experience, I have received some helpful advice from women, on this site, for basic weight loss issues, this group by defining it as a 'Guys Group', should be left to men discussing issues related to men, even if the issues might have a broader general concerns. Hope everyone is getting ready for the weekend!

I feel like it is a double standard. Like they can "accidentally" post here, but if someone posted in their sacred territory, there would be hell to pay.

Oh man! Now you've done it! Lol

I totally agree with you. Respect the boundaries. Personally I think the excuse of "I didn't realize this was a guys only post is BS. I've never accidentally posted in the Gals Room. Just say'n....

On FB I'm only a member in the guys only groups. Reasons being...less drama, no candy coated backhanded compliments and straight talking honest talk even if it's something you dont want to hear but need to. If you screw up or act like a jerk you will get called out on it, but you will also get respect and support from those same guys.

I admit I read the other posts on this forum for women but I won't comment on them if I know it's for women only or a topic that I have no experience on. Just wish some of the ladies would do the same.

This all being said I'm certain a lady has read this, gotten angry and most likely will comment on this thread. Again, just say'n.

In the end does it really matter. I'm sure there are trolls that post as men or vise versa.

It does annoy the $hit out of me when women post here but outside of being an a$$hole and possibly starting a $hitstorm what can you do? I think I commented once on someones post in here that a few women responded to. Just said "Thanks "Guys" for responding to his post" or something like that. I think I responded in a woman's post when I first came to this site and realized it almost right away. Also apologized right away and never went back. We know they read the posts here but like it's been said, we post here to hear men's responses and experiences. Just respect that and move on......

BTW I read through this post a few days back

It bothered me quite a bit how the women were responding and not giving 2 $hits. There were some responses that were deleted so I don't know what sparked the whole thing but two years after a woman still had to have the last word and post a response. Nothing to do with the original topic/question but still had to pop in. Why do some people feel it entitled to but in and give their opinion when no one asked for it?

There are a couple particular problems.

If using a mobile device and looking at new posts, it will not show the entire threaded view to see what specific group its in. I posted in the girls room for benign topics because of this, because I am not in the habit of scrolling riles at the topic heading for every single topic.

Secondly, the forum hoster surely can develop a way that locks out a particular group based on your gender profile.

Here's the way I see it, women have a totally different chemical makeup than men do, hormones and etc.

When I post something in the guys room it's because I am a man, and I would like a man to reply, because I feel his experience would be more related to mine than a woman's would.

So I think the ladies should respect the guys room and the men that post in it, and that way you don't have to filter through replies that you feel feel like don't relate to you as a man.

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
