Looks, Health, Mobility, Longevity.....Rank these motivations for surgery

Recommended Posts

My list is:

1. Health.......I am sick and tired of being sick and tired.

2. Mobility.......I have had surgery on both my knees and my back. The weight is NOT helping either of those issues. I am normally an active person and I truly miss getting out and playing golf or going for long walks with my hubby.

3. Romance.....He can say my weight doesn't bother him until he's blue in the face. I don't believe it. I want to be comfortable being with my husband again.

4. Looks....heck yeah I want to be the hot grammy!

5. Longevity....I would like to be around for the grandkids!

6. Family.......I put their needs ahead of my own for 20+ years....it's time for me.

This is one of the best forum queries I've seen in a while, great post!

Looks: to everyone that knows me, my motivation is and always will be Health, not looks. That said, I've been judged my entire life on my looks, I went bald at 20 and got fat around 30 and I've been passed over for so many promotions its not even funny. I don't care about my health if I can't get anywhere because of my looks and all the prejudging that goes on to my face.

Health: Tired of being tired, plain and simple.

Family: I want to see my kids grow and live life with them.

Romance: Getting this big has come with a lot of drawbacks in my intimate relationship with my wife, nuff said.

Mobility: I have heard about this thing that happens when you're able to do things like run and stay active in regards to keeping depression at bay.

Longevity: Last but not least, I'd like to live longer but if I'm not having a better quality life by putting all the other things first, then forget longevity, which is why I've put this last.

1. Looks- I want to feel good in my skin and not feel like everyone is judging me. I also want to be able to go shopping with my sisters in the same store.

2. Mobility- I would love to be more active and not be in pain. My dream is to run a Disney Marathon!

3. Health- I honestly don’t have much health problems and want to stay that way. Doctors think I have PCOS and I know losing weight will make it so doctors will actually test me appropriately for it and not just think so because of my weight.

4. Longevity- I want to have a long active and fun life

5. Family- I don’t currently have any kids but would love to have some in the future.

6. Romance- losing weight will help but to be honest I have no idea if my husband will be together by the end of next year so yea....lol

HEALTH

LOOKS/ROMANCE - I've never had a serious relationship or any interest from "compatible" men... I'm a content-by-necessity single in my late 30s, so it is about dang time that I go out, turn heads, have a little fun, and make a few (safe) mistakes.

MOBILITY

LONGEVITY - Not something I usually worry about.

FAMILY - I'm single with no kids, so this wasn't one of my reasons.

Great idea! My list is...

1. Mobility-my knees, I couldn't do crap because it killed my knees. This is already nearly resolved and I am just 2 weeks out heh.

2. Health-been crazy healthy my whole life til 2 years ago. Had something else go awry in my body and had transfusions.... within 2 months I was diabetic, an MS diagnosis, high blood pressure, a huge weight gain, and such severe exhaustion and fatigue that I could barely make it to the bathroom, much less do anything or go anywhere. And I NEVER wanna be that way again so here I am post op already off Metformin and bp meds as I no longer have those conditions... and I can walk around my neighborhood!

3. Family-I love them so much, I wanna keep being involved with them for a long time

4. Longevity-Again, I love my hubby and kids and grandkids sooooo much, I wanna be around to enjoy them a good while longer!

5. Looks-bonus! But I dont think I would have had bariatric surgery over primarily looks, its just the icing on the cake to be better looking lol

6. Romance- doesn't matter, I have the best, kindest, most awesome hubby I could ever hope for already! He's amazing and makes my heart flutter and my world go round!

Health - I was lucky only to have Diabetes but did not want to tempt fate, so I decided to make changes in health

Family - I want to be a role model for my kids in health and was failing miserably

Longevity - I want to be around my Family and future additions

Mobility - I was mobile pre surgery, hiking, camping and stuff. Now its just so much easier and I'm not the last one slowing down the group

Roller Coaster - its been years and am looking forward to going to Six flags soon. Also am looking into Skydiving

Looks - never really bothered me, but I have noticed attitude changes in people I knew, they are more inclusive than before surgery. It could also be me being less shy

Romance - I'm happily married and have no concerns in this department.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
