I was impressed when I used that brownie mix back in June for my brother’s wedding as he asked me to make a vegan dessert for those abstaining from dairy or eggs.

Kids had burgers with artisan Buns (I’m just a touch jealous) but I had this salad so who’s really winning? 😂 I didn’t eat it all but saved the rest for later.

chocolate almond smoothie for breakfast! Weirdly tastes like a Wendy’s frosty. A little higher in calories but you could save about 150 calories (and add 5g protein) if you switched to Peanut Butter powder and left out the heavy cream. Just remember you also need a cup of ice for either one.
Im also including the amounts for the one with peanut butter powder (the last picture) in case you’re feeling fancy and want to make it.

*Currently halfway through and I’ll have to drink the rest later as it’s oddly filling.

This brand is very good . I bought it on super sale ($1) but when I looked online to order more I noticed the regular price ($6) and I’ll probably never buy it again 🤣

If you have a Kroger or affiliate check there. I can get it on sale there for $2-$3, which when I need a vegan dessert is worth it.

This is my 3rd or 4th 2lb tub of the chocolate truffle nectar after a friend who had WLS in like 2010 recommended it as that’s what her office said to use.

I definitely prefer the Nectars over the matrix ones as those have weird bits in them. The nectars mix great in Water by themselves and don’t have that weird Protein taste to them. You can get a sampler pack of the nectars to try them but my favorites have been the chocolate truffle, the Roadside Lemonade (SO good as a frozen lemonade!), and the unflavored to mix into baked goods.

So, yes, I like them.

So I never post on here because my meals thus far have been like a cooked veggie pattie, Protein Shake, pieces of fish or deli meat etc that never look appetizing. But this meal I was like, “yeah, this qualifies” 🤣

And I ate every bite 🥰

Before and After Salmon pâté

It’s been a while since I posted this it I still eat it regularly maybe once every month or too because it’s super easy. I ate a *little* too much this time and now I’m paying the price 🥹

1st meal if the day!

2 soft boiled eggs and 1.5 peices of bacon (would have been 2, but someone pinched a piece from my bowl)

190 calories…ate it all.

Soft Proteins, yes.

I used my own recipe.

2 eggs
15oz part skim ricotta
1/4 cup grated parmesan
1tsp ground garlic
1tsp black pepper
Dash of basil
1tsp Italian seasoning
1tsp salt

Mix all these well.

Spoon 1 to 2 teaspoons into each spot on a mini muffin baking pan that you’ve sprayed with Pam.

Sprinkle a touch of reduced fat mozzarella on top of each.

Bake 20 minutes at 375.

I’m thinking of making a bariatric cooking/recipe blog. I love cooking and being inventive and really want to stay within my approved foods. So it may be neat!

Those look AMAZING! You should most definitely make a cookbook!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
