Protein shakes or adding protein powder to liquids

Recommended Posts

So tonight is the end of Clear Liquids (stage 1). Tomorrow I start on full liquids and can start having Protein Shakes. Besides the fake sugar aftertaste one of the things I don't like about them is the frothy or bubbly they get when mixed in a blender. Not premixed, I rather make my own with powder. I can't imagine the swallowing those frothy bubbles is good for the air in belly situation either. I was having the same problem with adding flavorless powder to my broth this week so I started just shaking the contents in a bottle. It still froths up or bubbles up but it doesn't last long.

My question is if there is any way to avoid this happening? Can I do it in the blender some way, maybe add something to keep it from happening? Thanks in advance.

I find it was easier to get down by putting coffee in it. Much easier to tolerate. Good luck.

I gave up coffee back in March when I started this journey. I figured if I had to give up caffeine then there was no point in drinking the coffee without it. Besides I don't have a problem tolerating it. All I'm trying to do is prevent the air bubbles that form when using the blender to mix it.

Thanx though

I put ice cubes (seven! I am a creature of habit!) in the blender and make a slushy shake. I prefer the taste (no whey aftertaste) and no froth!

I see this is an old post but wanted to chime in anyways. I'm 2.5 years out with some regain so I reluctantly went back to Protein Shakes for breakfast to see if I can start seeing the scale go down in the right direction. I DESPISE Protein shakes, especially the premade ones. I prefer to make my own. But I decided to get a trial pack of IdealShape protein powders. I LOVE THEM. There is NO protein/chemical aftertaste. And there is no frothy foam either. There is no grit, everything mixes so well. AND you don't even need to do it in the blender. You can mix it right in the shaker cup and everything mixes so well. I have three flavors right now (chocolate, vanilla and mocha) All are really good. And I just finished 3 more sample flavors (dark chocolate, strawberry and salted caramel) I'm definitely getting the strawberry and salted caramel. Those were really good. But I did not care for the dark chocolate one. That one is called a "superfood blend" shake or something like that. I guess it's flavored with different fruits/veggies. Just didn't care for this one at all. Had a weird dirt-like aftertaste. But if you go on their site, you're able to purchase a trial/starter kit that comes with like 4 flavors of powder, a shaker cup and 2 ebooks I believe. Hope you decide to try them

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
