Protein shakes or adding protein powder to liquids

So tonight is the end of clear liquids (stage 1). Tomorrow I start on full liquids and can start having protein shakes. Besides the fake sugar aftertaste one of the things I don't like about them is the frothy or bubbly they get when mixed in a blender. Not premixed, I rather make my own with powder. I can't imagine the swallowing those frothy bubbles is good for the air in belly situation either. I was having the same problem with adding flavorless powder to my broth this week so I started just shaking the contents in a bottle. It still froths up or bubbles up but it doesn't last long.
My question is if there is any way to avoid this happening? Can I do it in the blender some way, maybe add something to keep it from happening? Thanks in advance.
