SEPTEMBER 2018 SURGERIES AND SUCCESS

After thinking I might make May-June-July-or August for my surgery, it turns out I will be singing a SEPTEMBER song. Do I have a surgery twin, someone who will be going through this wonderous transformation with me?

SOME TIPS THAT HELPED ME
- Buy a dry brush. It’ll make you feel rejuvenated for your showers.
- Get a squatty potty so your first poop won’t kill ya (definitely worked for me)
- Protein drinks: taste a lot early on so you’ll know what you like
- Your taste buds can change quickly. You may hate everything you once liked. Don’t overstock.
- Sugarfree Pudding mixed with premier is AMAZING!

10lbs down from my surgery date and my Blood Pressure is down. Woot!

Good luck friend!
Just had surgery on September 24. Hasn’t been too bad yet for the most part finally was able on day 5 to completely stop pain meds. Still dealing with a bit of constipation. Looking forward to post op on Tuesday and getting the drain out

Today is Sunday, I think I will offer Precious blenderized light Clam Chowder, strain it if necessary. Half a cup , here we come! If it works I might add some protein powder tho evening. Don't want to unless Precious accepts it, that powder is expensive. She likes soups, that's what I will brew up!

Precious is not being perfect, we will going for an exploratory EGD on October 12th at 2:15pm (shss! She does not know!) at Doan Hall, same building I had my surgery in at OSU, in the meantime I must molly-coddle ,her with the current cream soups, other strained soups, broth, protein shakes and beaucoup fluids. But at this point she and more solid.pureed just don't get along. First mini- goal acheived, under 300,pounds, 298,6 as of Monday afternoon! Color me incredulous!???
1 week follow up yesterday and down 11lb since surgery, 16lb overall since start of 2 day liquid pre op!! Surprised at how quickly that happened.

This is my first full day back to work and while I woke up easily, I’ve been lightheaded in the shower and had to sit down a couple times while getting dressed. I’m wondering if it’s due to low blood sugar till I eat or what? I’m pretty sure once I get more food in my system it should pass (it’s my 1st full day of full liquids/puréed).

Any ideas or helpful hints?

My only joy right now in this midst of. WTF- land, 8 have had a First min- goal, I have broken out of 3-how much did you say?-town. and into two- fer- ville 298,6 pounds Mondaym Hey I will take what joy where I can! Don't regret, surgery. Just mad at my BODY, this is not an okay reaction!???
The thought of food makes me want to ? sometimes. I barely eat once a day because I’m not hungry and I’m still getting used to forcing myself to eat. I need to try to hit my protein goal and even though I have over 10 shakes on hand I can only really deal with 3 of them. Looks like I’ll have to buy more shakes because I’m just not getting anything in smh

Today I woke up and felt like I had turned a curve. I felt good. Nothing hurt. No gas pains. I got up got moving got me a caramel protein shake and when I was almost done with a wave of sickness hit me. Felt weak and sick. Now want to go back to bed. Wonder if it was too much protein at once? Ugh

Still on liquids, cream and strained soups, popsicles , jello and protein , ah the beloved Stage#2, I'm ready for senility, I'm already on this kind of diet, might as well remove my dentures! Oh maybe not, I'm prettier this way!????

And on we March into October, we sure are getting a neat group of people joing in this month, and a few who were September Surgeries just joining NOW!
So tomorrow I am 2 weeks post surgery. Weight was falling pretty good (18 lbs) now the past four days nothing. I hate to think I’ve plateaued already?

I was devastated the first time I quit losing, and it lasted for two weeks! They say we've "stalled" but the term has a negative vibe to it. I realized it's a period for the body to ADJUST and catch up to the changes going on. And odd issues can happen anytime - I'm 12 weeks out and sometimes my stomach threatens to reject what I sent down there. Some days are great, others are iffy. I've learned to treat my stomach with respect and delicacy. And I don't mind losing slowly, averaging aout 8 oz per day. Slow and steady is just fine.
