SEPTEMBER 2018 SURGERIES AND SUCCESS

After thinking I might make May-June-July-or August for my surgery, it turns out I will be singing a SEPTEMBER song. Do I have a surgery twin, someone who will be going through this wonderous transformation with me?

Yep, she measured it at 9cm and misshapen, yes I have another E.D.J. coming up in 2 weeks, maybe less and she hopes the inflammation has subsided, the 5 new ulcers have shrunk down or, I hope, I hope, disappeared, and she can dialate it further she dialated as far as she felt safe yesterday, but it looks like I will be a 2 or 3 time dialator at this point. Could it have been predicted? Only in the fact I already had an ulcer, Hector, the one I got from excessive NSAID use. Maybe I'm Being mean but I think that should alerted them. After all, if I have ulcers they don't feel a thing, but I DO!

A minor complaint, gosh I am ashamed to bring this up but yeah I had that EGJ yesterday. Didn t,think it left any residual effects but today I have laryngitis. Now i am sure there are a whole group out there saying "It's about time Frust8, is quiet" but it is inconvenient when you open your mouth and no sound comes out. Coincidence or are my vocal codes wounded?
They could be brushed from the incident and with time it will get better.
Probably just stretched or bruised a bit but you’ll be fine ?

And my Repeat EDJ is Friday October 26th at 3:10pm with Dr Noria. Apparently endoscopy is her " bang zone" she really likes doing them.

And I look so forward to purees and soft real food. My diet is bland, boring and it seems endless. My bud Ellie123 had her stricture dialated yesterday, no I guess it was Monday. if she had success perhaps I will also. I will give up hope!

Me again and living up to my name. See early in the week I left a message on voice mail for the scheduler at our local. transportation/taxi service- their motto is "everyone can ride" and what a joke that is! She denied ever receiving my call then refused me transportation. See Tueday at 11:45 I have an appointment with my surgeon's office and then the dietician/NUT. Friday I have to be there no later than 11 AM for a scheduled 11:30 endoscopy, an EGJ, at this one the hope is I will have the stoma stricture reduced or alleviated so that I can retain, process and utilize purees and soft solids. You people that have been brought to tears by a week of clear/murky liquids, try doing it for 6 and half weeks! In fact I will have my 7 week out anniversary on Wednesday. My body,is either hungering or I have ulcer pain from Hades. If I manage to retain my both/ stained soup/ or thin strained cream soup, 2 hours later, MORE and I really can't hold or drain/ more than a healthy. half cup. Yeah I am losing weight on 600-750 cal you would also.Trying to keep protein count up, trying to be Q.S. on fluids, but exact calorie, IDK for sure.
No longer drive, even sold the elderly by car standards vehicle,i inherited from Late Lameted, my legs were too long, and to be honest I needed the ?.
So I have tried searching my remaining high school friends to see if anyone available. Today I shall try again, did find someone for endoscopy, day, but no one yet for Tuesday. And I honestly really need to go. So a little later I will go. pawn part of my electronics, to get enough money to rent a dumpster for a week, see after 18 years my landlady wants to sell my house and would like me out Halloween, a treat she ain't ! We have been through he said, she been in and out of eviction court, had a lawyer free from Legal Aid, and that's what she was worth NOTHING. We were told to gather evidence of our counter-claim, she wouldn't look at it, let to have permitted it to be,entered into court records. She and opposing lawyer had a tete a tete, sickened me, but to keep my sons name from being besmirched had to summit, subjugate my desires, looking for, housing with less than a HUNDRED until S S day which will be November 2nd. And now that will have to go towards a rental dumpster which I can ill-afford.
Meanwhile my urinary system is being stressed by up and down fluid levels, so now on two urinary meds, one of which changes my urine color, Carafate and omeprazole to try to calm down my stricture and the attendant ulcerations of the pouch and jejunem, Wellbutrin to keep me calm? a laugh there, vitamins, minerals, Zofran because without I pho, eand all of this going into a cranky crabby egg-shaped pouch who rebeled unless you barely trickle things in.
And I hope everyone else is having a Smooth Saturday, I'd stay in bed with my bottles of varied liquids nearby but that accomplishes NOTHING! So the next chapter of this Soap Opera moves forth!??
Major success.....went to my annual BP check up this week. BP 101/69!!! Of course my dr said no more meds!! Yay!!! And down 19 lbs since surgery 9/25.

That IS major, Lynn - congratulations! May this be just one of many successes to come. I got off my BP meds, too, but your numbers are waay better than mine! And then, 19# lost as well! I just hit the 50# lost mark, so I'm celebrating, too,

I took my pill maybe 20 min before the appt. not sure if it had kicked in yet....but regardless, 101/69 is too low either way! Lol. I feel so much better with out it. So far my BP is running normal since I stopped the meds last week!

I've been charting BP since home from hospital on spreadsheet along with oximeter and weight. Cardiologist said stop, PCP concurred and gave me numbers to watch for if it creeps up so I could resume meds if necessary. So far, so good - don't need 'em!

I am in MA. I am having mine done at Brigham and Womens. I have a two week pre-diet.

Pre-Operative Diet

The preoperative diet is required for all patients before weight loss surgery. This diet will help to make your liver smaller which makes it safer and easier for your surgeon to perform surgery.

Start this diet 2 weeks before your surgery date.

Every day during the pre-op diet, you will do these 2 things:

  1. Follow the instructions in each box. For boxes A, B, C, and D, choose 1 item to eat or drink during the day. For Box E, consume 1 meal.
  2. Drink at least 64 ounces of sugar-free beverages (water, Crystal Light, Fruit2O, etc.).

With 1 item from each box, you will have 5 eating events per day.

Box A
Choose one protein shake: SlimFast Advanced Nutrition (RTD shake only, not powder) Pure Protein (35 gm can) Premier Protein Atkins EAS Advantedge Unjury (in water) Syntrax Nectar (in water) Syntrax Matrix (in water) Designer Whey (in water) Quest Protein (in water)

+

Box B
Choose one protein shake: Syntrax Matrix (in milk*) Unjury (in milk*) Glucerna Hunger Smart Core Power Light EAS Myoplex Lite Boost Glucose Control Boost Calorie Smart Designer Whey (in milk*) Quest Protein (in milk*)

+

Choose one snack: 1 cup non-starchy vegetables + 2 Tb salad dressing or guacamole ¼ cup unsalted nuts ¾ cup low-fat cottage cheese, ricotta cheese 6 oz Plain Greek yogurt 2 eggs (any style) 2 oz turkey + 1 string cheese 1 protein shake from Box A

+

Box D
Choose one snack: Nature Valley Protein Bar Pure Protein Bar (190-200 calories) Detour Whey Protein Bar (170 calories) Fiber One Protein Bar 1 serving fruit + 1 TBSP nut butter 1 protein shake from Box B

+

Box E
Eat one meal: Meal should contain: 4 servings of protein 3 servings of non-starchy vegetables 2 servings of fat

*Can choose skim (fat-free) or 1% milk, lactaid milk, or plain soy milk.

Please choose only the items listed on this sheet.

Bread, rice, pasta, starchy vegetables, and alcohol are not allowed on the pre-op diet.

Important Notes:

  • Use the Serving Size section starting on page 20 of the diet guidelines book to remind you which foods are in each food group (protein, non-starchy vegetables, and fat) for your 1 meal in Box E.
  • Eating every 3-4 hours and drinking plenty of fluids in between can help to prevent hunger. You choose the order of your items.
