Whirlwind... 35 days out!

Recommended Posts

New to this app and these forums!
In 35 days I am having my GS surgery. I’m not so much as nervous for the surgery, I’m more scared I won’t wake up from the surgery and will die.
Back in April I had a miscarriage, I didn’t tell anyone about the miscarriage including my bf. Which lead to me becoming depressed and pushing him away. 2 weeks into April I had the opportunity come up for me to be able to get surgery, meaning my aunt had money from when my uncle passed. My depression has gotten worse since the break up. He’s already moved onto a new relationship.
I’m going to therapy. Trying a new church out on Sunday (haven’t gone since I was 17, I’m 30 now). Starting a yoga class tonight and I have deleted all social media off of my phone. I also have started to share with people close to me about my miscarriage.
I hope I am mentally ready for this in 5-6 weeks.
My pre-op appointment is on July 16th and my surgery date is August 16th. I have to do 4 weeks of the pre-op diet.

I am glad you are taking care of yourself. It is good that you are at least saying out loud you hope you are ready for the surgery, that shows you are trying to do what you need to. Sorry to hear of your miscarriage . I will keep you in my prayers. Best of Health moving forward.

We're here for you. I'm happy to see you are in therapy. It will help with your loss and eating. This is a scary surgery, but the risks are much lower now than they used to be. I was also terrified of not waking up. I went to far as to make sure everyone knew what to do if I did not make it. I made it through and I am so glad I did. Life is getting so much better. I continue with my therapy because I am changing physically and mentally as I become the person I am meant to be. Take care of yourself and know that these boards are here for you. Most members are extremely supportive and caring. Best wished to you on your journey.

@domi I’m not sure how to quote on this thing.. thank you for encouraging words! I planned on letting everyone know what to do if something were to happen to me. Made sure to check into the life insurance i get from my work too. I will definitely keep working in therapy and turn to these boards for support!!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
