For those vets have yall been able to keep most of the weight off?
I will be 5 years post this fall...lost 185 lbs. I gained 15 lbs in the last 6 months (totally my fault lol) and I am working it off now.

I have worked hard for years.
Knowing it’s a different lifestyle...
you might be hungry for a few hours. You might not want to move much... but it works. And Water. Still hard for me. Protein Shakes help me a lot
Best to all that try! It is a lifestyle balance for me

Almost to my 6 year sleeve procedure. I have started back on this site to help me loose the 40 lbs that I have regained in this past very stressful year.

I’m 51/2 years out and have only just checked in today after about 8months.
Struggling with a 15lbs increase not a huge amount but definitely over my danger weight of 143lbs. My vanity goal weight has always been 132lbs which I have probably only achieved a handful of times, generally just before we go on holidays. So that I give myself some wiggle room for a bit of relaxed eating which I tend to do when on holidays.
I try never to let myself go above 143lbs as a rule. I can usually get back on track just by being mindful of what I’m eating and logging all my food into my fitness pal but struggling this time around.
I have only ever stuck to the rule of walking 10,000 steps a day and haven’t really added any extra exercise at any point. I started out at 253lbs and reached goal in the first 12 months. So I’m very grateful for where I am but know that once you cross your own danger line things can spiral out of control very quickly.
About 12months ago I was struggling and tried IF and started to look at Keto but life got in the way and everyone and everything in my life became more important than me.
I think I just answered my own question, Gastric Sleeve is a jealous beast and doesn’t like to be ignored. I think if we ignore the rules she set out when we started this journey she will make us pay lol.
Good Luck everyone this isn’t a one size fits all. I know coming back to this site gets my head in the right place and makes me focus on myself. Which I think in my case is a rule I can’t forget or I pay the price.
I’m interested in how others are going this far out.

So true it’s definitely a lightning moment when you understand that it is much work. I went into it thinking it and saying it repeatedly but I don’t think I truly understood it until about 5 years.

I’m going on 12 1/2 years and I still have to be watchful

Do you think you have to be more vigilant than other people your age/weight?

Hi everyone, I see that a lot of the “old-timers” are no longer here and I’ve been MIA for a while. I am coming up on 7 years (surgery date May 21, 2012). I lost around 50 lb once we found the right fill and have kept most of it off but have crept up a few pounds. As of Feb 27 I am on Phentermine and low carb and have lost 14 lb so far. Still 40 lb from my goal of 185 but that’s less than 54! I’ve seen lots of posts from folks whose bands have failed or given them problems; mine has not given me grief at all. like to hear how you other vets are you doing and if you’ve heard from others?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
