Hey guys, I know this is a question for my doctor (I am having a hard time getting ahold of his office today)... anyways, 2/5 of my incisions have small amounts of Fluid draining from them. There is not any presence of redness or heat around them, and my temperature is well within normal. This has been going on since yesterday morning. I’ve been keeping the sites clean and to see how much it was leaking I put a bandage over the 2 spots before going to sleep last night. It isn’t a lot of fluid, less than a quarter size amount on the bandages this morning, but I am worried as I can’t reach my doctor. Does this sound like normal discharge 5 days post-op or does it sound like something I should head to the ER for asap?

I wouldn't go to the ER, you would be the lowest priority and you'd sit there for the next 30 yrs. I would though bug the crap out of my surgeon's office. I'd definitely want to be seen. In fact, if by midday if I didn't hear back I'd be tempted just to show up.

Clear Fluid draining from incisioms is quite normal. However if the fluid changes colour or has odour then please go to ER.

By the way, no harm in talking to Doc.

if it's clear (ish) and doesn't smell... that's perfectly normal.
If it's got any yellow or green coloration, then you might want to call a doctor
If its got a funny smell then you might want to go to the ER.

As long as it is pinkish or yellow, there is no infection. Green would be a sign of infection. However, if the incision is yellow inside, it is gonna heal so you want to drain it so it is red again.

I have problems with my incisions and they are taking a bit longer to heal and they have some discharge. Where I am, they are not taking care of by my surgeon's office but by a local clinic. Still, I had to go back every 2 days so they could change bandages and put some gel/sterile Water. So make sure they are getting checked because we don't want to get them infected or just delay healing.

Thank you all so much for your replies! I'm fairly certain now that it is just normal discharge! I still haven't been able to reach my doctor, but I was able to get some things to keep the incision areas clean. Again, thank you all!!

And smile your pretty smile, get to feeling A#1 and may all your incisions fade to small white scars. They are your battle ribbons in the 🚡Weight Wars🏣

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
