I’m Dominican and I’m finding it hard to eat foods. I like Mexican food and your typical rice and bean. I’m one month out so what do you eat for Breakfast lunch and dinner? ?

Refried Beans are a good early food. I like them with melted reduced fat cheese, a few slices of avacado, and a big glop of salsa.

I'm not Latino, but I love Mexican food.

I you do rice, switch to brown rice. Lower glycemic index will give you less rebound hunger and it has more Protein.

I usually do hummus or some eggplant with carne molida :) you can also guisar habichuelas it’s really good.for breakfast I do 1 boiled egg or 2 egg white scramble or just do an omelette with 2 egg whites my Snacks consist of fruits like lechosa aka papaya or guineo aka banana or some low fat cheese mix it up as for rice my nutritionist told me to stay away from rice Pasta and bread

try to get exercise as much as possible I try to go to the gym 5 times a week besides walking my dog

im 3 months 3 weeks post op I’ve lost 97 pounds

and I had 3/4 of a taco today but now I use white corn tortillas

Make your own stuff or buy low carb products. Google low carb tortillas. Oy!

Cheese Taco Shells

Cauliflower Tortillas

Psylli Wraps

Mission Low Carb Tortillas

Street Taco Size Corn Tortillas

I'm not Latina, but I may as well be--I love Mexican food that much!

Breakfast: egg and Beans, egg and beans breakfast taco, eggs and salsa, did I mention breakfast tacos? :D

Lunch: salad, meat wraps, or make a wrap with a low carb tortilla, or street taco filled with either beans, cheese, fish, shrimp, cilantro, salsa (you'll want to start out with mild salsa), slow cooked moist meats of all kinds flavored with adobo or chiles or your favoritivo Dominican marinade.

Dinner: make your favorite dinner using these low carb products listed above. Ditch the rice in favor of cauliflower rice. Don't bread or deep fry rellenos, simply stuff the peppers or chiles with your favorite slow cooked shredded meats and well-cooked veg without breading, then bake with your sauce and a little queso fresco. Cut your thickeners in half with each recipe--they will be a little runnier, but still taste great.

Here's one of my FEAST books. This one is Cinco de mayo recipes. I'm from Texas and we are huge Tex-Mex fans. And we are slowly coming round toward other regional Latin cuisine and fusion. These recipes feature a low carb approach to some of the Latin specialties we grew up loving. I even make a low carb version of refried beans and Mexican rice in here.

Lol, disclaimer I'm not technically Latina (completely) so... I post hesitantly, feel free to disregard if you want. But I grew up cooking and eating mezo American, latin America, west Indian, etc so I feel qualified to chime in.

It's tough eating that diet and not feeling guilty earlier on but the further out you get the better. I make a lot of bean stews and I always keep plantains in my house. I have cut out the rice because I just don't need it.

Just in case anyone is wondering you don’t have to be Latino to chime in. As long as you eat Spanish food is fine. I just put Latinos because we don’t eat the things you only see in certain restaurants.

Example: Mexicans don’t go to Mexican restaurants for just tacos, they can get a cemita or huaraches.

      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
