How do you take pills that need to be taken with food?

Recommended Posts

I will speak to my surgeons about this soon, but how do you take pills that need to be taken with food? Do you take them immediately before eating? Immediately after? Halfway through a meal?

Because you're not supposed to drink after a meal, and not supposed to take the pills on an empty stomach (right before)

So I'm trying to figure out the best way to do this.

I doubt it makes much of a difference, but if I'm taking pills multiple times a day everyday, I'd rather do things as best as I can

I take them immediately before meals with just a sip of Water. Then I eat before the pills have the opportunity to tear up my stomach. But, if there's a better way, I'd love to hear it!

For a long time I have taken pills with pudding. (I'm a crappy pill swallower.) The only difference now is that I use only about 2 teaspoons of pudding instead of finishing a dish!

Sometimes I take with a tiny wee sip of Water directly after a meal, if it’s small.

A larger pill I take immediately before eating.

I don’t have any medications that require this though, only I like to do this with my Iron pill.

I eat a bite or two of leftover dinner to coat my stomach. I take pills with a sip of Water or two. As long as you don't eat a ton of food( by that I mean a meal) and try to take pills and water on top of it you should be fine.

I take mine with a Protein Shake that seems to help. At least I have something in my belly before the meds

A spoon full of sugar free cool whip helps the medicine go down:)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
