April Bypass Updates?!

Recommended Posts

Hey April Bypass-ers! Just wanted to know how everyone is doing? How much have you lost? Have you had a stall yet? How's your eating?

I had my bypass on 4/23. I'm down 34lbs since surgery & 64lbs since my highest weight. I got a stall for about a week when transitioning to regular foods but I didn't panic and started losing again. My eating has been great! I just gotta watch the carbs

Congratulations and well done Sprinkles.

I had my bypass on April 12th. As of this morning, I have lost 100 lbs. from my HW and 64 lbs. from SW. Still a long way to go.

I crave nothing. I have been able to tolerate most foods. Although I haven’t and won’t try the sugary stuff.

I need to pick up the pace with exercise. A lot easier on the knees without an additional 100 lbs.

Hello.

Mine was 4/2.

I started off at 369 last September at my first weigh in. I weigh 300.4 now. I’m not 100% on what exactly I weighed at the beginning of surgery. I’ll have to ask.

Overall I feel great. Went down 2 pant sizes and 1-2 shirt sizes and my confidence is up.

And yes I hit a stall. Still losing now but slower.

Surgery 4/13. Start weight 391, surgery weight 360, current weight 312.

It seems like ages ago...weird.

Had a major stall and weight loss has slowed...a bit depressing. So many friends have positive comments about progress but I feel like I’m going to let everyone and myself down. I’m now losing slower and even tho I’m eating less than presurgery.

In the last month I have had difficulty with Water, which is so strange for me cause I was easily drinking on average 100oz. daily pre and post op. Water now often hurts my stomach. Really trying to control myself but I have had no food issues, which is scary. I feel I could probably eat anything. Worst is a small bite of a cannoli yesterday:blush:

Daily routine is Premier Protein shake, yogurt, baked or grilled chicken/beef jerky/or other meat...craving crunchy and salty, so either have a handful of nuts or pretzels or pb cheese crackers (figuring this is problem:blush:). Will have small amounts of salad/veggies/fruit but not daily.

I need to get more exercise ...doing an hour of water aerobics 3-4 x a week and some walking.

We are flying on vacation in September...so feeling anxiety about being comfortable on plane and dining chairs with arms. Maybe I had unreasonable expectations of losing faster?

I am better off today than 8 months ago but a looooong way to go. I’m going down instead of up!

got my bypass revision on 4/30, SW on surgery day was 242, HW was 260, CW now is 232. So I only lost 10 lbs since surgery. Not sure whats going on, probably in a stall. Still on pureed foods, but I see the surgeon for my one month post op on the 28th, maybe he can shed some light. I am getting my Protein in, but definitely not my Water. Maybe that's the issue? Anyone else struggling?

2 months out I definitely would not be eating any type of carb like pretzels and crackers. If you need a salty/crunchy a handful of nuts is definitely better. You want to make sure all of what you eat has Protein in it, and low carbs and sugar, which you probably know. Don't get discouraged, I am sure your experiencing the cycle of hearing other peoples positive comments, not feeling the same, getting down, eating things your not supposed to, getting upset at yourself for doing that, hearing other peoples positive comments, etcc.... it goes on and on. Try to change this habit now. Good luck!!! You can do this!

Also, how much faster do you expect to lose the weight! You are doing great!!!!

I had my bypass on April 11. HW was 288, down 55 in total to 233. I have hit several small stalls in the past few weeks but figure it is just my body adjusting. Most days my calories are around 750 with an occasional 1000.

Clothes shopping in the spare bedroom of long lost sizes has been fun but will soon require real store shopping.

It sounds like everyone is doing great!!! I'm really proud of all of us.

Currently was I a stall. I talked to my doc and he said the best way to break a stall is increase Protein and Water intake. Took his advice and weighed in today 2lbs less. I say give this a shot if you're in a stall too!

hw 323

sw 310

cw 275

i hit a week and a half stall every 3 weeks. Losing about 6 to 8 lbs that week after the stall breaks each time. I was awfully discouraged at first...thinking most people have lost more than 35 lbs in 2 and a half months....but i am getting used to how i am losing....stall...lose...stall ....lose.

I am literally able to eat anything...i just cant eat alot. and obviously chose not to eat carbs...sugars ect....( not gonna lie...i have slipped a few times...but have slapped some since into myself :)

I have hit my first goal of 275. now my next small goal is 250. Wish me luck!

You're doing great! Stalls are really hard. Every other week is basically a stall for me. I just got to 274 today and my next small goal is 250 as well!! I hope we get there soon :) I've had some slips too but it's not really that terrible. I'm still eating 100000% better than I was previously and I get full so fast. It sounds like you and I are in a very similar boat. We'll just have to keep at it!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
