I had Lap band revision to VSG on 2/26/18.

I decided before the procedure that I wouldn’t weigh after. And I haven’t. The only time I’ve weighed was at my postop visit, where I was down 17 lbs. that was early March.

Before surgery, I watched a YouTube video that suggested not to weigh and I thought about all the times I was happy - until I weighed. I read all the posts here panicking about a stall. And I decided the scale wasn’t for me.

*HATERS STEP OFF NOW. DO NOT POST A REPLY IF YOU THINK THIS IS STUPID, BECAUSE IM NOT SUGGESTING ANYTHING TO ANYONE.*

It’s been really peaceful. I’m down 4-5 sizes, I log all of my food, but I have no idea what I weigh and I’m am SOOOOO okay with that. I’ll be weighed when I go for my next doctors visit, I know....but for now, I’m at peace. I know I’m working what works for me and I’ll do it as long as it does....

Just wanted to throw this out there for others to consider....if it’s not for you, more power to you. Do what works for you. I’m doing the “me plan” and I’m happy and healthy and so not stressed out about my weight right now. Taking it a day at a time....

Hope everyone else is working what works for you and at peace with yourself or well on the way...

That is precisely what my surgeon told me to do at my first follow-up--not worry about weighing myself. I chose to do so, but I'm pretty good at rolling with the stalls and so on. I'm currently living in a situation without a scale, and I'm not happy about that, but I know I can buy one if I really feel the need. I like to keep myself in check--but I salute you, because if you know you are following the rules and you see the sizes going down, you KNOW you are losing weight. If that's the case, does the number matter that much? You go!

I like your style. I think I wanna try this. I am addicted to the scale and it is so stressful. I'm doing well, but the need to check the scale several times a day is a bit much. I want to start weighing every few weeks. I hope I can stick to it. I think it will do me some good to just focus on how i feel. The weight will come off as long as I do my part. I think your idea is definitely worth trying. Thanks and good luck to you. You are doing great.

This is great. I hate how sometimes I’m in a good mood and I step on the scale for my weekly weigh in and if it’s not what I’m expecting, or what I need it to be for my surgeons next goal then my mood is in the dumps the rest of the day. Maybe I’ll be able to put my scale away some day too.

Good for you!

That silly little machine should not rule our lives or happiness.

My 4yr old doesn't know what the scale does. Every time he sees it he asks "Mommy, can I measure my feet"

My reply "Sure baby, get on there and measure your feet" 😉

I think this approach is great! My scale has been not reading right for almost a month now. And the relief of stress to not have it around has been wonderful. Good for you!

Yes indeed!! That scale has the power to mess up my ENTIRE day if I don't see what I want to see. Imma try leaving the scale alone for a while and see if that helps settle me down. It's exhausting thinking about weight loss 24/7. I'm mentally and emotionally exhausted from it. We'll see.

Yeah....I used to be so snappy with my kids if the scale didn’t show what I hoped...my WHOLE family paid for it...

I don’t need the scale to shame me.

I know what I’m eating and this is my life now, not a diet. There is no end. So it feels much more like my life than a diet where I’ll hit a number and FINALLY be happy.

Best of luck to all of y’all!! And sampthechamp- let me know how it goes!

I'm right there with you,
I only ever know because my practitioners weigh me to adjust medication
(And I tried twice at Walmart but it was wrong anyway lol)

I have backed off weighing myself so often, too. I was stressing because I keep gaining/losing the same 5 lbs. Now I just weight myself after I have a Water "whoosh" day because that gives me my new low weight. It works for me! :)

I wish I was strong enough to do this. I’m just so addicted to the scales!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
