I finally cleared my closet of the clothing i can no longer fit but absolutely love and im having some serious FOMO, things i never even wore and never will be able to. I dont know why i feel this way i should be overjoyed but i just want to wear my pretty clothes. Now i will have to give them to my vulture friends that have been eagerly waiting for them since day one. I may be in a bad mood.

Anyone else want to randomly rant?

my FAT clothes are residing in a large tote in the garage. I still can't seem to reach the point of letting them go.

The deep dark place in the back of your mind you try never to go to will not accept that i will not need those size 48 jeans or those 3x shirts in 6 months. So yea i kinda know that feeling. Its been 20 years since i weighed this amount so it might take me a few months to believe.

I was super disappointed to realize I'd shrunk out of my favorite shirt, which I'd only been able to wear a few times.

And I'm hanging at the doorway of your cave. Not only,do I have some in my downstairs that is irking my son, the mad tosser. but upstairs in the spare bedroom are more bags. Son says pitch them now, I tell him I want to peek inside first, and he retaliated that,i haven't been wearing those, pitch them. In theory,he is right, but I tell him there maybe items I bagged because they were too small? So he calls me Harriet the Hoarder, says he is going to call " Hoarders" maybe TLC will pay him a finders fee. My name for him Tobey the Tosser. I,promised once I get a firm surgery date I will start tossing, I guess I don't believe it until then, I 've been "burned"before. Those of you who know my story understand my meaning.😮

I know how you feel. I'm glad to have shrunk out of my pants, no real attachment there. My dresses, those hurt, but knew I would have to donate or alter. I was not expecting to shrink out of my shirts at this point. I wore one of my favorites last week and it was too long and looked so frumpy :(

Been there/done that, now I'm doing it again. During my Lap Band journey I happily donated my FAT clothes except for a few cute dresses that I eventually had to give up. Still sad about my favorite one by the way, and that was more than 10 years ago!

Unfortunately, I re-gained most of my weight after Lap Band removal. I now have a host of sizes in my closet that I was saving for "one day" when I lose the weight again. But, that doesn't make it any easier to get rid of favorites that I seem to be shrinking out of.

My current strategy is to be genuinely happy that I'm getting myself back together again. Even though it was very overwhelming to be able to shop in the "normal" size clothes, I'm sincerely looking forward to that feeling again.

My advice to you: let the vulture friends have your "fat" clothes and you can re-build your closet to include even nicer, prettier clothes.

Things that are new or in very good condition sell well on eBay, especially in plus sizes. I have been buying and selling stuff on there for at least 15 years. I recommend using Paypal to receive all the payment which makes it easy. You can then use the Paypal balance (not just on eBay) to buy new pretty clothes...it is almost like exchanging things that are too big for things that are the right size.

And remember if your vulture friends do swoop in and,you happen to see the items on them they won't look as good, only you rocked them the RIGHT way!😝

I actually have a fear of missing out on eating huge meals. Even though I know this is going to be great for me in almost every way for some reason I am feeling a bit of trepidation about not being able to eat a 20oz steak and a baked potato in one sitting or taking full advantage of an all you can eat buffet. I guess there is something satisfying about eating that enormous meal I fear I will miss out on. Thanks for sharing, this is the first time I have expressed that concern.

Syntax,

I've had some "feel sorry for myself" moments where I think very similar things. During my feel sorry for myself moments I wonder what will happen on special occasions like holidays or birthdays. I also wonder if I'll have to eat cold food for the rest of my life because by the time I finish a meal it is getting cold!

I think your fears are normal. If they aren't, then we're both abnormal.

I had to have a heart to heart with myself..."I need to save these for later!" Wait...you will NEVER need these again! I despise shopping, so I tend to hold on to old clothes.

In my past diet attempts...I'd hang on to larger clothing fearing the rebound weight gain. I also invested in some great pieces..Ugg killed me to let them go.

Once I got to maintenance mode. I started investing in clothing again. Shopping became an addiction lol I needed space in my closet. Cleaned out the last of the larger clothing (with the exception of one pair starting weight jeans)

Donate or give your friends the last of your larger stuff. It's going to give the excuse *smile* to go buy new things for yourself.

I'm having a garage sale at the end of the month with another woman. I will take pictures of everything setup in my garage right now. It is insane when you think its clothes from only 2 women. I'm almost embarrassed I had so much stuff. But I'm proud to be getting rid of it because I'm too small for them. (Unlike her who has the opposite problem ) For years I had to keep buying up and up. I kept ahold of clothes thinking I'd one day loose the weight. Little did I know that I'd have WLS and loose so fast I wouldn't need all those clothes I kept.

I'll take pictures tonight of our insane sale. Seriously over 200+ items.... and growing.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
