Any complications from the burger?

Did they say they found traces of beef in there?

Lol, no complications. From the mag citrate, I was definitely emptied out.

Also, I felt comfortable going a little rogue. My ex is a Gastroenterology, and when he read my preop instructions he thought that was a bit overly cautious and told me not to expect to hear from him that day cause he knew I'd be hangry, lol.

I'm glad everything went well! The preop is extreme but if u notice it is different from person to person. I guess it depends on the Dr. Hell my nutritionist said I coukd eat grilled chicken and salads and Protein Bars on my liquid diet. I had to remind her that I was on a liquid diet. She assured me she knew and I'd be fine!

I actually didn't have a preop diet. I just had the one day of Clear Liquids .... and I didn't even do that!

That's awesome...keep up the good work! What has been the hardest so far?

Thanks!

Honestly, my recovery was quick and easy. I've not struggled with hunger, besides head hunger. I feel great. I don't have much to complain about, really!

What I've struggled with the most is pretty unusual, but explaining/excusing the small amount of food I can eat, along with the fact I'm not drinking. I'm in sales so I eat out multiple times a week with colleagues and clients. Drinking is also a frequent activity. So navigating that has been challenging. I'm not sharing my WLS with anyone in my professional life. I also am not using a variation on "I'm dieting" as a reason. I have kept my feelings about my weight entirely private, and don't want to open up any discussion on that with anyone I work with.

I forgot one :o

I confess I can now identify with those people that had a relationship end after weight loss surgery. Put me in the statistics book, ha. Relationships after surgery are so much different! #singlelady

That's great, I hope i have an easy recovery as well. I think I'll be the same way, as far as the eating and drinking goes. I struggle with drinking enough now. I can't say that I blame you for not sharing ur weight loss surgery qith anyone from work. I shared mine with the people i work with and regret doing so. I'm in dental an work for a small private practice so i felt I didn't really have a choice. One girl even told me I was taking the easy way out and if I got skinny she was going to hate me...like I care about that lol! I told her it wasn't "if" it was going to be "when".

A lot of things change--the way the person that had surgery feels about themselves, like self-confidence changes, attitude changes, motivations change, habits change etc. And when you've been with a partner that is used to the old habits, the old moods, attitudes, etc--sometimes it's a change that cannot be overcome. In my case, my surgery was one of the least of our problems, but it was one. I know one person that also had a relationship end just because she had confidence after the surgery and he couldn't handle it! He liked the depressed version of her apparently?

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
