It depends on how long it takes you to wean yourself off of the narcotic pain medicines. I choose not to take any pain medication after I left the recovery room so I could drive almost from the time I left the hospital.

Thanks James, I wasn't sure if there were any restrictions about driving

My only restrictions were not to drive on pain meds, as well

My doctor wouldn't clear me to drive until my 1-week checkup, regardless of narcotic use. Check with your doctor's office.

When discharged, I was advised not to drive for at least three days.

I didn't take any pain meds during my 2-week recovery. I was cleared to drive after my recovery though. Drove me crazy...(see what I did there?)

1 week, but I am almost 3 weeks out and I just barely started driving again because it hurt to drive, getting in and out and even the pedals and I just got so tired. I still won't drive long distance alone

I did a six hour round trip at five days out. I was in the “as soon as you’re off narcotics” camp and I felt fine.

Same, I was told not to drive until I was off pain medicine. I didn't even want to drive until 3 weeks after, it hurt my incisions just being the passenger,..so many bumps in the roads!

Oh, yes! I may have uttered an expletive or two at every pot hole and you can't even imagine what I said at the railroad tracks!

I checked with my surgeon's office today, as not driving makes me crazy. They said I am cleared to drive from 48 hours post procedure. I have minimal pain and no movement restriction, so was VERY happy to take myself off to the shops for an hour this afternoon ON MY OWN. Will also allow me to get out for some walks on my own on/near the beach the next few days before the rain sets in on Wednesday night, and letting hubby (who took the week off to manage the kids with school and anything I needed) can get onto some of his own projects during the school day. win win :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
