Waiting to go in and nervous as hell. My stomach is in nots. Not scared of the surgery or after looking forward to the positive changes. Just scared I won’t wake up and I have so much to live for.

How is everyone feeling. I’m actually pleasantly surprised I feel so good. Have been up ever hour peeing, walking. Drink my my Water every 15mins. So far so good. All the nerves I had earlier were not worth it.

I’m ok. VERY painful gas here, but no nausea. I’m working to keep liquids down, no vomiting, but it feels like everything gets caught in my throat and the gas pain in my chest increases.
I have not had 4 instead of the usual 5 incisions in my tummy which is nice but also means he put a bunch more gas in there to be able to see.
Walking the halls, taking a bite of Jello or sip of Water and walking again. I am SOOOO tired, but I can’t lay down without turning into a giant painful ball of gas[emoji37] So it more walking for me!

I’m sore & the gas pains are the worst.
I’ve managed to get down 3 cups of water/crystal light since 2pm.

I’ve gotten up twice to walk my laps on the unit. 5 laps each time

They’re keeping an eye on my heart rate as my resting heart rate is a bit high 115-120’s

I hope everyone is doing well. I'm in pain but its not gas pain. Only sucking on lil ice chips. Nausea meds are helping. I have 6 incisions . too much pain to walk. Hopefully tomorrow is better for us all. Goodnight

I woke up in recovery with crazy gas pain. Kept begging for something and the nurse said she gave me all that she could in recovery. Once I made it to my room I tried to lie in bed but the pain was too much. They got me into a chair/lounger that sits up straight and that has been heaven for me. I slept for a couple of hours in the bed tonight but started feeling that painful gas again so I’m back in my chair. I’ve been able to walk around with no problem. It seems like when I do feel pain it’s only from gas. I’m only allowed ice chips for now and will complete a swallow test in the morning before they start me on liquids. The Dr. ended up fixing a hiatal hernia during surgery. I was surprised because I never had any symptoms.

Like 3 full cups (8oz) or the little medical cups? If you’ve gotten 24 oz of Fluid in so far you’re my friggin hero!
I FINALLY managed to walk off all the c02 gas around my stomach, so no more shoulder pains and stuff, but boy did I have A LOT of actual gas in my new tiny tummy! So I was laying in bed here for good hour massaging around the sutures to push the gas up and out. Went pee and felt better so I decided to lay on my tummy in bed. After a couple burps and farts, I’m feeling pretty good. Just had another oz of Water.< br> The only thing really hurting now is my lower back, and that from a previous injury that I typically take muscle relaxers for. I think once I get home I’m hopefully 12 hours, and I’m able to take one of those I’ll be fine. Here’s hoping anyway since we don’t get pain meds sent with us when we leave! All that’s a wee bit sore in the front is the largest of the 4 sutures where they did most of the work and pulled the old tummy out of.
I hope everyone else is getting better as the night progresses! Please let me know how you’re all doing because lord knows I’ll be on here talking about EVERYTHING since I can’t seem to sleep.< br>

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
