When was your first BM after sleeve surgery?

Recommended Posts

Kiiiinda gross I know but Im sitting here realizing my surgery was 5 days ago and I havent had a bowel movement yet.

I took some laxatives in preparation for the struggle about 2 days before my surgery so I know I was pretty clear to begin with, but when should I anticipate one and when should I start worrying?

Thanks!

No, it's not. It's a good question. I had RNY and it took me pretty much a full 5 days before I took a dump.

bm question are normal here, we have all been there not been able to do that :)

the liquid diet and recovery from surgery slow down #2 in a big way. If you are not hurting dont worry just yet.

i was day 4 or 5 and was worried also. you get used to going all the time and it feels odd to just stop.

mention to your doctor if it goes a few more days or hurts.

I waited 8 days until that first glorious trip to the bathroom. I think I spent 30 min in there trying to lay that goose egg. Drink and Drink and Drink! I was dehydrated and had received fluids the day before at the hospital and it helped.

I had the VSG April 13th and my surgeon told me laxative, laxative , laxatives on discharge. I stayed overnight and was passing gas before I left. He told me that it is the most common reason for readmit post op so I have taken him at his word and I take ducolax 5 mg each night and I have a bowel movement everyday. Some days it is more like diarrhea but it does not cause pain.

I had my first bm 5 days after surgery. My nurse told me to up my stool softner intake from 1 Colace to 2 a day. It did the trick. I am almost 2 weeks out and happy to say I had a bm back to back this week and I am excited about that!

Took me 3 days to feel movement and pass gas. Day 4 was a tiny bowel movement. But day 5 was a good one. I kept with the Colace since day 3.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
