Good idea to have your surgeon examine the port site.

Sometimes you can get a seroma around the port (seroma is Fluid collecting around the port). Sometimes it's just swollen.

Certainly, if the area is red and hot (suggestive of infection) you should have them take a look at it sooner than later.

5grnkidz! :welcome:Welcome to bandland! I had Dr. Clark too. Good to hear you are doing well. I didn't have that much of a gas pain problem, but I used the Gas-X dissolving strips. They work pretty good.

Hello, VA Girls!

I'm new to this site and just found the local, VA Support Group. I live in Fairfax, VA. Altough I've researched the lap band procedure for almost 5 years, I'm just starting the process to actually get the lap band. Been to two seminars and have decided to go with Dr. Eric Pinnar in Reston, VA. I have my first appointment next Wed., and have found that my insurance BCBS FEP will pay 75% of the procedure (since Dr. Pinnar is a non-particpating Office). I'm okay with that because I really like him and meet with a Dr. at Fair Oaks and they kept pushing the bypass surgery instead of lapband. Besides I'm so determined that I was prepared to self-pay instead of buying my new car! :)

I'm so excited and feel the is the right decision. Plus, I've found this wonderful forum and just feel really blessed by the very friendly and helpful people who are here!

I was curious if anyone lives near Fairfax and if anyone has seen Dr. Pinnar.

Can't wait to start my life and take control. I'm so happy and excited.

Hope you are all doing great and look forward to chatting with you.

Take care.

Sheri

Welcome to Lapband talk Sheri! I love this site! You can find lots of great folks and terrific sucess stories. Have you looked at the pictures yet at http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f17/before-after-pictures-pix-only-4642/

I was checking into the band for about 2 years before I went for it. I'm now in "Bandland" . I met some really great people who have been banded for a few years, they have been a tremendous help with all my questions, etc. The thread is: NJ January chat. The majority of the people there are Not from NJ. That's where I'm at most of the time.

Good luck with your process and stop in at NJ January chat sometime! :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
