I would call for sure! This is a collaboration - you are on the team of "you". I called, and even said, "hey I don't want to be a pest", and they said, "Please, be a pest - we are here for that and for you."

Go for it. And I don't think calling after two weeks is Impatient at all. I finished my requirements and called the next day and scheduled an appointment to come in and set up my surgery.

Get her done, my friend!

Your sistah in Va.

I can imagine Cheryl! I locked my keys in the car at the gas station on my way to my last fill - boy was I freeked out! I live in a small town and a total stranger took me to my house to get my car, and another total stranger said, YOU GO TO YOUR APPOINTMENT, WHEN YOU GET BACK I WILL HAVE GOTTEN YOUR KEYS OUT AND will move your car to a parking spot. And he did. Aren't people remarkable?

So I feel your pain.

Also, email me your Address, Cheryl and I will send you some of Byron Katie's CDs on doing the work on Body image, and other subjects. You don't need to return them. My email is: private@meetingyourmind.com

Well I took your advice and went ahead and called. I dont know much more then I did before! haha All I know new is that my chart is in the hands of the person who schedules the surgeries and I have to just sit and wait until she sends me a letter giving me my instructions. They said it could be anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks! Well, I knew when I started this journey it would be a test of my patience and it definately has proven to be that!

Mamato3 congratulations on the approval!

I understand your excitement, I couldn't wait for my turn. I'm not sure if you've already read this, but I was Dr. Terracina's first lapband patient.

Good Luck

Cheryl, 2.5 on the bridge, I hate booking a flight from Norfolk, we have to leave so early just in case the tunnel is tied up. Sorry you missed the appointment,

I need to make a appointment for my 3 year check up, gosh time flies ;)

Hey Betty, is it like a pulling/tight feeling? I have that even now 3 years later. I think sometimes mine is triggered by the way I sleep or activities of the day, lifting things, tugging on things, picking up the grandbaby, etc.

If it's a sharp, stabbing pain, don't hesitate to call your doctor, or check with him on your next visit and share your concerns with him/her.

Bettyboop68, I was wondering about the same kind of sensation. Mine sounds like yours does, and sometimes when I sit for too long in the same position, it "pulls" enough to go "ow". My first fill is on the 12th, Dec. I'll be sure to ask about it!

Hey there Pat! How is the vacation search going? See you on the NJ side!

Well it's official! I received my letter today with my surgery date. It will be January 7th. I cannot even begin to tell you all how excited I am! Of course, many of you probably know as you've been down this road already. HAHA I am a little bit in shock right now. Last time I spoke to them they said they were scheduling for February, so I did not expect to be having this done until then. It is a welcomed surprise though! 2008 is going to be the year that I finally lose some weight and become the healthy, thinner person that I've always wanted to be!!

Hi BettyBoop68,

As you know the port is actually stitched to the muscle fascia (the tough white stuff on top of the muscle). The good news is that it will keep the port sitting upright and easy to access. The downside is that if you overdo it a bit, sometimes the stitches can cause a little muscle ache right at that spot. The treatment is just like you would with any muscle ache: muscle rest, anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen or Aleve, and heat (heating pack, hot tub soaks)

Hope that helps.

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣
