Started running today

Recommended Posts

Started running today. First time I’ve really run in over 10 years. I was able to do 2 miles with mile 1 taking 10 minutes and mile 2 11 minutes. Felt pretty good about it given how long its been, carrying a lot less weight makes it much easier. Starting to train for a 5k in June and thinking of doing some long distance biking so will need to get conditioned. The high Protein diet seems to be really helping preserve muscle, last time I lost this much weight I was unable to run a mile when I hit goal (about 30 lbs from where I am now).

Excellent work! It always feels good when you get to re-discover what you love to do but couldn't do it due to circumstances. I know I am excited to begin riding my road bike again.

Hoping to dust mine off soon too. It got too uncomfortable as I gained weight so I've only Ridden my more comfortable mountain bike in the last 10 years.

Kind of odd when I start thinking of all the things being heavy cost me... good motivation to not let it happen again.

I would rather not think about what being overweight has cost me because it is too painful. Instead, I want to think about what opportunities losing weight will provide.

I feel you on this! I love playing sports. Tennis, skiing, soccer, and for the past 5 years I haven’t been able to participate because I’m too heavy and out of shape. As the weight comes off I am realizing how much I’ve missed these activities. I just started running 3 weeks ago and found a couch to 5k app that really helps. Looking forward to the summer and outdoor activities!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
