Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies Check In Here!

I would love to make some surgery buddies now so we can go through all the pre-op requirements together and stick through surgery and beyond. Anyone else already know their surgery will occur this summer?

My surgery is going to fall in the July or August time frame. Most of this is dependent upon checking all my surgeon's boxes, the rest is dependent upon my financing since I'm self-pay. I'll be getting the sleeve.

I love my surgeon and feel really lucky to have found him. So far the pre-op stuff has gone smoothly, but I am just at the beginning stages. I've scheduled all my evals and classes and attended my first weight loss class last week. I found it to be mildly helpful. It was certainly geared more toward those that hadn't already read through the surgery binder and/or those that had no clue what healthy eating consisted of. I'm hoping future classes focus more on the post-op eating.

My first visit with my PCP about this surgery is next week as that's the soonest I could get in to see her. I'm hoping she'll be supportive as my surgeon knew of her when I told him that's who I see. But if I have to find another PCP so be it.

My first dietician appt is next week and psych eval is the week after that. I only have to get these three meetings out of the way to schedule my surgery. So I'm anxious to get that done!

I'm excited to hear from others along the same timeline as me!

You too @ALFxRNY!

Any June 28thers in NC??
Thank you! I don’t know everyone’s location but there is a surgery buddy list on page 19 of this thread that will show you everyone’s dates. We have quite a few June 28th surgery dates

I have to go in for another throat scope to see if a small ulcer has cleared up then can be confirmed for my surgery. If all goes well end of July with the scope, I will be getting the surgery Mid August! Can't wait to get it done and start my new life.

so I had my bypass done yesterday and let’s just say last night was what I would believe to be the worst pain ever, but day 2 and feeling better, have to stay an extra night in hospital and I just can’t wait to be in my own bed
A new motto for us all to remember:
Pain comes and then goes ?and behold Joy will come in the morning!?

@Auroragirl4489 Please let me know how it goes. I have aetna also and ill be submitting 7/16. I hope they are quick to answer! I am so impatient and want to get it done!

@chrisb, FYI I was approved by Aetna choice POS in a week. They stated that their max response time is 15 days so you should have an answer with that time frame or shorter. Good luck!

Thank you so much for the info, I should have an answer by the end of July!

I have a pretty high pain tolerance and it was a 9/10 last night. They are trying to get away from giving narcotics so they only had me on tylenol and eventually gave me morphine and something else but I didn’t have an relief until I was given oxy. Gas pains were/are pretty bad especially in my back and shoulders. I know it’s worth it so I would definitely do it again if I had to. I hear every day it’ll get easier at least pain wise! Good luck to you!!
