Yea Ash Ash 12, almost called you #13 because I think you're even greater than you give yourself credit for! Welcome to our humble room of friends. My last teeny requirment finishes the day of your surgery🌈 So I will be following close on your heels. What happened was,i needed,30 days electronic verification of C-pap usage. well upon the advice of my PCP because of sinusitis of over a month duration, I had stopped using it so I would get better. Well my records were pulled and they saw the gap, so now my surgery won't be scheduled until, July 3rd or 4th or later. But I have hollered that I want my surgery in July, I have a class reunion August 11th and I want completed prior to that. Been waiting since August,2015,for journey completion. The month of July is my month to sparkle ⭐and shine.⚡

Welcome! Did they give you a specific meal plan to follow to lose that weight before surgery?

I am having Lap Band surgery June 15th! I had some difficulty with the hospital not figuring out my costs correctly. But, now I’m approved and ready to go.

Welcome - You're so close!!!

8 days down on pre opt diet 6 more days till surgery!!! liquid diet is rough in the beginning getting better. Made a big pot of homemade chicken vegetable Soup. It has kept me satisfied. I add carrots, celery, and green onion to the broth. My husband and kids got the chicken lol.

Hang in there - it will all be worth it!!

Yay! My surgery is July 23rd...Good luck everyone, we’re all almost there wish everyone the best!!

Welcome! I'm sure this time will fly by and your surgery will be here before you know it.

They didn’t give me a specific meal plan. The dietician just said he wanted me eating 3 meals and 2 Snacks a day with an emphasis on Breakfast being the largest meal and dinner the smallest. He used the analogy of a car full of gas at the begging of the day and near empty at night. It’s actually worked as I’m down about 4 lbs in 2 weeks but 40 lbs just seems like a lot. It seems as though many can get the sleeve without having to lose so much weight before the surgery but I’ll keep doing what the doctor asks. Did anyone else have to lose this much weight before their procedure?

Hello, I'm a newbie. Started this process Mid December. Been through all the appointments mandated by BCBS. Been using a CPAP for almost three months. Had the H Pyerion disease and treated for 2 weeks on antibiotics. Couldn't take the "Test for Cure" because I'm allergic to citrus acid (Wonder if anyone ever looks at your records?). Finally got all my approvals, submitted to insurance and approval letter in mail May 25. Surgery date for sleeve on July 3rd, and see I have a surgery buddy!! Start my 2 week diet on June 19th, and set of many pre op apportionment. Stated and anxious, but I've got a lot of support, so that helps. Can't wait to get my silver fork on Wednesday at our support group (get it after getting a surgery date. It's a small fork to signify the small bites you're going to have after your surgery.

What a cute premise, a silver fork to signify your surgical date commitment. Want to give a shoutout to your program and its location? Sounds like you and Creek Imp in Michigan have dynamite programs.

Baystate Bariatric Surgery, Springfield, MA. They do have a really good program and work hand in hand with insurance companies. They have support groups before and after.

Well mine does too, the only problem I have seen, the presurg ones are set up at night, I don't have easy transport except during daylight hours. If I could find another patient in my area or county,i would chip in on her gas to attend! 👩🚘👸

4lbs in 2 weeks is a very healthy weight loss pattern. My doctor doesn't require weight loss prior to surgery, but I don't know if that would change if I weighed more. I think there are different schools of thought on the reasons for pre-surgery weight loss. One is to shrink the liver which would be medically necessary for some patients. The other would be psychological as a way to prepare the patient for the upcoming lifestyle changes.

I don't know if one is better than the other. Practice is always great for anything though!

Welcome to the group! I love the silver fork idea! My program is starting to solicit support group members to be leaders of the group. That's something I'm interested in and I'm going to suggest this idea.

So you know how many people have a one last meal event before surgery? I was thinking that instead of doing that, I am going to create a list of all the foods I love now but want/should give up and no longer eat after surgery. I'm envisioning this as a to do list in a sense that I check off the foods as I eat them. That check mark will signify the last time I have that food and that I can move on to the next food. I have two full months to work on this activity before I have to start my pre-op liquid diet. So I'll be thinking about all the foods I want to add to the list and since it's summer, Lemonade is first on that list. I love it so much, but really, really need to give it up.

Have you tried the true lemon packets? I really like them. I also squeeze lemon in my Water and add stevia.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
