My mood is flatlined-will it get better?

Recommended Posts

My mood is like nothing. I have no interest in ANYTHING I used to like to do. I am 12 days post op. My taste buds are super weird and I am concerned this will be the new me.

Please tell me I will get taste buds and mood back.

I have serious acid reflux and can't handle anything dairy either. Help :(

It will get better, I promise. You are only 12 days out and your body will take some time to heal. I started feeling better around 3 weeks out and back to normal energy level around 6 weeks.

I was sleeved 3/16 and I feel similar to you. Now I am losing sleep thinking about the medical bills and I know that isn't helping my overall mood. I am walking, measuring purees and drinking but still can't get in the Vitamins or enough Water. I think dehydration has a lot to do with mood as well. Are you able to get in Protein and water?

It took a few weeks to start feeling good, but it does get better. Some depression and other feelings are normal, partly due to the big changes and partly due to hormones released during weight loss. Fair warnin mood swings are also common

I had my sleeve done in October and honestly, I still get mood swings. I'm thinking that it is because I used food to make me feel better, and now I actually have to deal with it lol! But things will definitely get better. I was very down throughout my hospital stay and didn't really feel better until 2-3 weeks after I got home. Seeing weight loss results will definitely help you feel better!

I never had mood swings. Or depression. Any I did have was due to other circumstances beyond the sleeve -

I did have issues with getting the Protein in. What I figured out was to have two to three, 35 ounce bottles of Water, and add my protein to that. It helped a lot.

For some that’s normal, the mood swings. The hormones after surgery fluctuate and change. For some people who are sensitive to that it’s awful.

The protein helps with the moods and energy. I started feeling 100% about 3 months out, really. But like JennyPenny said, with all the weight coming off, it’s hard to be sad. (In my experience!)

You're absolutely right. We can't use food to make us feel better anymore and actually have to feel things now. It's not fun but we can get through. I'm having to learn that not all negative feelings are bad. It's ok to have them.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
