Massive gut not shrinking

Recommended Posts

My stomach has gotten much smaller but so far it’s the last to go. My arms and shoulders look amazing but the abdominal fat is lingering plus some loose skin. However, it is how I’m built. Stomach has always been the last to firm up even when I was on multiple sports teams and lifted heavy weights. It will happen eventually.

For everyone losing their butts...squats, deadlifts, hip thrusters! The heavier the weights the better!

I tend lose first in my upper abdomen. The bottom half is already a hanging mess so will likely only get flatter over time. I have the turkey neck, arm wings, and the craziest back hips. They stick out so far I could balance a cup on them. It'd be cute if it were my butt, but I know from my mom, grandma and sister that I too, am a member of the flat ass club. Will be interesting to see how I look over time after my sleeve.

Same boat. I tend to lose weight everywhere else but my belly. In fact, it looks like I'm with child. Pregnant for 10 years straight now. LOL Here's some before (black maxi) and 3 week post pics (gray t-shirt). I can totally tell a difference after 25 lbs lost, but my baby bump is still there. I know I will eventually lose it in time and with core workouts.

My gut has definitely shrunk, although it has to be bigger than it was the last time I was at this weight, since I’m wearing bigger pants than I did back then. Walter, one thing that helps you gauge the shrinking of your gut is to ask your surgeon where your incision scars used to be and where they are now. If they’re closer together, that means your gut has gotten smaller. Mine has pointed that out to me at the last couple of visits and it’s interesting to see and hear.

Side note: I was keenly aware that my thighs have gotten much smaller, but I made the mistake of looking at them in the mirror. Holy sagging, crepe-y skin! All I can say is that it’s a good time to be a man, since 1) the hair hides things a little and 2) it’s fashionable to wear knee-length shorts.

On the gut front, mine has shrunk quite a bit, its was close to 56"s at the belly button on the start of everything and is now 45" on a 70 pound weight loss.

I've lost 20 lbs and I measured my waist and I have not even lost 1/2"! It's exactly the same. My jeans are lose in the thighs and butt however snug as ever in the waist. Glad I'm not the only one!

I should probably take measurements but I haven’t been.

I also carry my weight around the middle and it has been the slowest to go down. As the rest of you shrinks it make the gut look even bigger and harder to notice when it also shrinks. Use the measurements to see the progress even when you don't think anything is happening there might be something that you just dont notice cause of the all over changes going on.

Hi@Walter.Sobchak. Count me in too as a person whose stomach appears just as it did before surgery and weight loss. So frustrating. It’s good to hear there’s a crowd of us. I started measurements a couple of weeks ago. I swear my husband is not taking them correctly. I had a blouse with billowy sleeves on and he wraps around the sleeve around my bicep but I can feel that it’s not actually touching my skin. I told him that and he was angry. Well, sure enough some of my measurements were gains and I’m not even sure they’re correct. I’m going to have to take my own. He seriously leaves room instead of placing against skin. Then he tells me that I want him to pull tight against my skin. lol
So wrong. I just want an accurate measurement. smh

I know it’s different for guys but I measured myself when I started and I was afraid it wouldn’t come off either, my legs, neck, and arms did go first, but the stomach is coming along but doesn’t feel it,
Neck- 20.5” now 19”
Waist- 54” now 49.5”
Belly button - 60” now 55”
Chest- 56” now 53”
Down 80 pounds, had rny 1/22

Ugh, I dread seeing what's under this beard if I ever shave it off.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
