Constipation 1 year post op

Recommended Posts

Today I hit 1 year post op from RNY although I’m loving the weight loss I keep hitting stalls, not because of my eating habits ! But because I’ve been so constipated I feel like since day 1 or the surgery I have not been regular, so I take laxitives everyday..: I’ve tried drinking more Water and eating more Fiber but nothing helps. I was taking suppositories daily and then it stopped working so I’m thinking of doing an enema, has any one tried prescription meds for Constipation or have you ever used an enema and if you have, what works best .. I heard mineral oil or coffee enema ! Thank you for reading

As you reach the end of the weight loss phase, Constipation can become an intense problem. In my case I discovered that if I eat an apple before I retired to bed, the next morning I had a bowel movement. But you have to eat the skin of the apple. It is a combination of the skin and the pulp.

Remember the saying "An apple a day keeps the doctor away". For me it was "Eat an apple each night to keep the constipation away".

I discovered that adding more fat to my diet helped tremendously with my Constipation problems. I switched from skim milk to 2% and try and eat healthy fats every day (e.g. avocado) and if I'm having a lot of problems I will have a bit of higher fat canned Soup (e.g. canned turkey chili) and it works without fail.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
