So I am post op day 2 with gastric bypass and still at the hospital because of dehydration. I cant seem to get the liquids down. Also just started this evening I am belching like crazy and it hurts! I get this burning epigastric pain and it makes me nauseous then I burp a ton. Anyone else experience this? Also how is the heck did you guys get 64 oz of Water down everyday? I have barley gotten through a 16oz bottle of water. They are sending me home later this evening but I am scared I will just end up in the ER with dehydration.

Do you still have your iv? Have you told your nursing staff about the burning?

I had to start by Day 1 drinking 1oz per 15 minutes/4oz per hour.

As I understand it, 4oz per hour is the bare minimum to stave off dehydration in an adult? I drank 4oz per hour from 4am in the morning when I woke to take my thyroid med, to 11pm at night when I went to sleep. :) Like clockwork every hour. Sip, sip, sippy, sip. :) Happy little sips! I had one job. :D

I think I need to get a timer. That way I don’t just fall asleep and forget.

I got very bad pain when I'd swallow anything. The doctor pushed on my abdomen in different areas and asked if any area hurt and I said no. He said I'd be fine! I was kinda pissed because I'm wondering, uhhh, how am I supposed to drink Water then? All he'd say is "sip slowly". All I heard was "pain slowly". So I thought, whatever. I'm just gonna have to push through. The pain didn't come as frequent the next day and the next day...but it was at least a week before it completely stopped. So yeah, I drank through the pain. It SUCKED. I probably only got in about 20 oz day 1 an day 2, and finally hit 32 on day 3. I was ok.

I burp like a mother f*cker. If I don’t let them out it hurts.

Sip. I have to add crystal light to all my Water or it hurts. Not a damn clue why though. I have a 25 oz bottle for home and a 17 oz bottle I carry everywhere. I’ve slacked off lately and could probably use an IV

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
