Hi

Please help, I’ve got my surgery tomorrow and my head is all over the place. I’ve gone totally blank on items I should pack for going to hospital. Can anybody suggest something for me?

Thank you very much for your time.

Emma

ps the weight should be in kg not lbs

It depends on if you're doing an overnight stay or multiple days.

I did an overnight stay. I bought the following:

1) Sweatpants and a loose shirt (No bra, loose panties, socks) for when I left. Honestly, you are not going to want a bra on afterward.

2) Chapstick (Lips get really chapped)

3) Phone / Charger / Headphones (You will be drugged up and sleeping most of the time, with the walking around. You probably won't even look at your phone)

4) Toothbrush and paste (Even though you most likely won't use them. I didn't)

5) Your paperwork

That is pretty much it. That is all I bought with me.

Biotene mouth wash— your mouth will be very dry all the time!

Sweat pants (you won’t be able to put on a shirt due to wires).

Bathrobe or long sweater if you don’t want to use a hospital robe

Hair elastic, phone charger

You’ll sleep a lot day one and hopefully go home early day two!

A pillow for the car ride home to brace against your stomach. Slippers so you can walk the halls, unless you prefer the hospital socks.

Ask the anesthesiologist for a scopolamine patch for nausea before they send you down - works great.

I used one of those wire free ahhhh bras by Rhonda shear I think. Worked great for me, was not close to my incisions.

I brought my pillow from home to sleep on and very glad I did.

I couldn’t drink anything the first day so I definitely was glad I had my toothbrush and toothpaste with me.

Everything else, slippers to walk in, chap stick, a loose top to wear home, your phone charger...agree.

I had my surgery on Wednesday and totally overpacked! 😃

I used chapstick, Biotene mouthspray, pillow and clothes to go home. Mine was just an overnight stay, so I stayed in their gown and used a 2nd as a robe...mine felt too heavy. They will give you slipper socks and I didn’t want to bring home anything from the hospital—germs or clothes.

Good luck!

Phone/kindle charger

EXTENSION CORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (you never know where those dang plugs will be!)

a NON-white pillow (if it is white, its easy to 'blend in' and get left behind...

Don't over pack (remember, when you get there, you will immediately take off those clothes and care wear them back out...

$$$ for the vending machine (kidding!!)

Oh...don't forget lingerie, sex toys, and other accountraments (in case you and your significant other feel 'frisky')....also cash is great for bribing nurses to bring you more food (and some pizza delivery places will only take cash (and for tipping) :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
