3 1/2 Weeks Post-Op eating Pain

Recommended Posts

I have talked to my doctor and my surgeon both tell me patience, I just need to know that I’m not alone and that this is a normal experience.

I’m still on Protein Shakes only as every time I eat soft food I get terrible stomach pain so that eating equals pain therefore I don’t want to eat.

I may be getting 800 to 900 cal a day, I doubt I’m getting my 60 to 80 g of Protein.< /p>

I have released 28 pounds since starting pre-surgery prep, and my diabetes and CPAP requirements have almost disappeared.

Am I the only one that is experiencing the transition to different eating categories has been delayed due to things like pain when you eat, the pain is in my stomach.

Thanks for sharing!

I didn't have this problem, but you are definitely not alone. I read over and over that we heal at different rates and that when you try a food for the first time after surgery, it may not work at first--wait a few weeks before trying it again. I know this is miserable for you, but do hang on in there. It will get better.

My mom
Is about a month out from surgery and still has pain after eating. The doctors tell her the same thing to be patient but when she gets sick like that it makes her not want to eat. I wonder if she was or is slow to heal due to her being a diabetic going into the surgery. And another thing she is finding out is that when she does eat for her blood sugars are getting bigger. As long as your on the shakes and liquid it’s good but when to introduce food it starts going up.

I'm sorry about your pain! That's the pits! :( Hope you heal soon!

May I ask, what are you eating if you're consuming 800-900 calories per day and it doesn't include you meeting your daily Protein requirement? What does a typical day look like for you? Are you tracking/weighing and measuring everything--even Water and protein?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
