So, I have a date set for March 5th to have VSG. I'm now feeling I should go for the Bypass....anyone else feeling this way? My surgeon says either are fine, but I just don't know. Anyone out there have any advice? Sleeved or those with bypass. I appreciate the help. I hope to make some friends on here, not many outside my family know about my upcoming surgery. Could use a suppo a system.

This is a GREAT place for support - answering questions, soothing anxieties, and giving you a bit of tough love when needed!

Tell us about yourself - eg any other medical problems (eg GERD - bypass generally thought to deal better with that)...

My pre surgery BMI was over 50 which was a main reason I chose to go with bypass. My surgeon said either surgery would likely work for me and didn’t influence my decision either way. You should feel comfortable with what you do to your body.

What makes you want to switch?

If you have made up your mind to switch you need to discuss with your surgeon and Office ASAP. They will have to resubmit your paperwork.

Your co-morbidities may also play a role in your choice. I chose bypass because of its track record for putting type 2 diabetes into remission. The sleeve does this too, but the percentages are higher with bypass and dealing with my diabetes is my main goal.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
