Soup noodles and the like

Recommended Posts

Hey guys.

I’m just about at 6 weeks post op and starting my “full” diet. Obviously not eating anything or everything in sight, but I’m curious about Soup noodles and such.

How drastically should I avoid those things.

I’m not gonna have noodle soup, but if I have some in some chicken noodle soup is that the worst thing?

I just got sick and my mother in law made me some homemade soup.

Let me know your thoughts, please

Thanks!

So I am sure everyone has their own way of thinking on this. For me, I keep trying to avoid noodles because my Dr. says no white flour, no white sugar.

So, when I make homemade chicken noodle Soup now, it is really chicken soup -- no noodles. But, I really don't know the hard and fast rule on noodles. It is just something I was told to avoid. But the broth and everything else in there would be great to have. I think the thing for me is that you are only 6 weeks out and if you start giving in now to things that aren't on the preferred list of things to eat/avoid, it will only get worse. But I may be projecting my own fears on you. lol. Will it kill you? No. But, how you handle it now will be an indicator of how you will handle things going forward. Again, just my opinion.

There's no hard and fast rule for most things on this journey! But of course, you can follow your program's lead. I have pho all the time, along with other white things. I've lost 130 pounds in 11 months, so it really hasn't made any difference in my weight loss. At 6 weeks, I started having pho, but the biggest thing I had trouble with was broccoli! I couldn't eat that without throwing up for months. So everyone is different, I would just slowly experiment with what works for you.

I was told to avoid Pasta and rice because the noodles tend to swell in your pouch.

Me too. But I have a little with no problem. Focus on getting better -and it’s the broth that is good for colds not the noodles anyway.

My doctor advised no junky carbs as your meal, but hidden within are okay within reason. So, no Mac and cheese, yes chicken Noodle Soup.< br>

My surgeon doesn’t have any restrictions food wise. Everyone is different and can handle foods differently. I’ve never had any issues with pastas or noodles. Hamburger is the only thing I can’t eat without getting sick unless it’s grass feed beef. I’ll be 3 years post op in April. Best thing is to listen to your body and nutritionist. Best of luck.

My plan includes low glycemic breads, brown rice and Protein Pasta. I use chick pea based bowtie protein noodles in my chicken Soup now. Very little taste difference, and much better nutrition.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
