December 2017 Gastric Bypass!

So I have a (likely) surgery date of December 13th, pending insurance approval. Any other people having a gastric bypass in December and want to be buddies? I hope we can keep this thread going as we prepare for surgery, and after!

Me! I'm scheduled to go in early on the 18th Dec for sleeve... Would LOVE someone to stay in touch with going through the same thing!

I’m going in for the sleeve at 9a on Monday as well! We’ll do great!

I had surgery December 11th I was sleeved so I’m about six days post opp and I don’t feel discouraged if anything I’m just excited to get going and be in the swing of things. It’s totally okay with being nervous before your surgery trust me I was but the end results are gonna be so worth.

Hey there! So I’m 3 days post op today. I started liquids yesterday and it went right thru me! Terrible diarrhea. I don’t know if I drank it too fast and that was a dumping reaction or why it happened. I felt no restriction when I was drinking. I’m anxious to talk to the Dr today. The Nurses here don’t speak English so I was unable to ask them.

i should be released today, go to my hotel in San Diego, then fly home tomorrow. The pain is bearable, but they are removing the bandages and drain this morning so I think I’ll feel better. My glucose is low, so they just brought me a big cup of apple juice. Yummy!!

im going to try to ease off the pain meds because I can’t stay awake. All in all, the last three days have been rough, but not unbearable. I just keep looking forward knowing these next few weeks are a very small sacrifice compared to my new healthy body!!

So now it is 5 days post op, and I'm finally home! The plane ride was horrible, and I didn't drink enough so was dehydrated by the time I got home, but it is so nice to be home! I found out it was the whey in Isopure and the sugar in the juice that was giving me dumping syndrome! I've put a call into my Dr. to see what I need to do for protein until I can go to full liquids in four days.

Beware of the sugar!!!

Other than that, I walked a lot today, have had little pain, no nausea, and no dumping, so things are definitely improving. Also, I haven't napped today, so I think I'm getting back on schedule.

Nerves are seriously setting in! Tomorrow morning is GAMETIME. I know I'll be fine, just really nervous.

Hi there
I'm due for conversion from band to mini gastric bypass on 27th December
On pre op at mo
So nervous
Having it in Brussels with Dr Chris deBruyne

Absolutely everything is done. All my pre-op tests. Blood typing. Pre-op visit with anesthesia. Instructions given for showering with hibiclens and sleeping in clean sheets the night before. All. Done.

Now I have 8 days until my clear liquid pre-op day, and 9 days until surgery. A week and a half to just get nervous and stress. :o
