Stay strong . We all have a day or days like that. Just try to keep in mind your goals for doing this to begin with. This will pass and in a few months it will all seem worth it.

Thank you for your kind words, they were much needed!

Posting for the first time...I got sleeved on 11/14 and I am down close to 20 pounds. So far so good with pain. I have a hard time sleeping at times, but I manage. I am trying to lay off the Oxy until I really need it. Coughing and sneezing cause alot of pain, but that's expected.

What have you guys been eating thus far? I am on broth and Protein Shakes so far.

Currently staying with my mom in fort myers but I live in Brandon. I was able to get down 2 bottles of Water and started a Protein Shake as well. I'm constantly worried about my incisions and signs of a leak. My anxiety is kicking in!

I have a question, I am a hypochondriac at times and am freaking out about how much liquid I am getting in which is 2 bottles or propel today and a Premier Protein shake. Also I keep freaking out about bloodclots, leaks, and infected incisions. I feel like I'm driving my self crazy. I was sleeved 11/15/17

Same here! Surgery was on the 16th and I’m back at work today (Sun to Thur work week). I am mostly worried about infected incisions. My liquid intake is awful, pre-surgery I was gulping down Water because I’m not a big coffee/tea/Juice etc drinker. I feel as if I’m going to collapse from dehydration

Sleeved on Nov. 1.

Recovery room was rough and I threw up a couple times. After that I was wheeled to a room and slept for several more hours. All total I slept 12 hours post op. People kept talking to me but I was so out of it. I don't remember my husband kissing me and going home for the night.

I finally woke up at 9pm and drank some chicken broth and walked 2 miles in laps around my ward. Sipped Water. Then I konked back out.

I was up every 45 minutes going pee all night long.

Woke up the next day (today) and felt great. Walked over 4 miles throughout the day waiting for hubby to pick me up at 5p. The staff was calling me marathoner. I inspired other patients to get up and walk with me.

I had a small cup of yogurt and some tomatoes Soup and a premier chocolate shake throughout the day.

Good luck to all three other November sleevers.

I'm almost three weeks out and feeling great for the most part. I was cleared for mushies a week ago and have a lot more energy since then. I can walk a couple miles without getting so winded and feeling like I was going to pass out. I eat one or two small meals a day and then have one or two shakes plus my Water, Protein water, popcicles, etc. I have not lost a single pound since I started on mushies. My calories are around 600-800 calories a day. I'm thinking of going back to only liquids. I don't like being in a stall so soon.

How are all my other November sleevers doing? I hope everyone is feeling good and energetic.

OMG! You are my work twin!...Before my surgery (happened on 11/14), I begged the doctor to let me go back to work on Monday. I was so upset when I saw the FMLA paperwork that said Wednesday 22nd. HOWEVER, I’ve been home for 1 day from the hospital. I stayed an extra night because I wasn’t doing well with liquids and had a second GI done. It has almost killed me to not check my work emails but I know once I do, I’m going to sent down an stressful, emotional spiral. I’m trying really hard to put me first and am actually thinking about extending my leave until next Monday after the holiday. I totally understand you when you say everyone and everything first before you and hey look where that got us! Hopefully you will have inspired me to do the right thing for me! Thanks for posting

No I had my surgery in Brandon hospital with Dr Chavda. I'm going to try yogurt and pudding today! I'm glad you're doing well.

What do you do for work, if you don't mind me asking. I'm planning on returning to work 11 days post op and I'm very worried about it. I'm an ER nurse.

I’m actually on the Corporate side of a hospital. I’m hidden away in my office. Today I just went out to take a walk around for the gas. I can’t think that the nurses would be able to return back as quickly as I did.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
