Pain in left shoulder when i burp.

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on 10/18/2017, so just about a week ago. I've noticed some occasional pain in the tip of my left shoulder. Recently I've noticed that it mostly happens when I burp. Has anyone else had this symptom? What to do? How long before it goes away?

It is probably gas pain from the surgery (once it moves up to the shoulder it's almost gone), or it can be pain-transfer from the diaphragm. If you had a hiatal hernia repair, that frequently results in this happening.

Usually shoulder pain is no problem and goes away within a couple weeks.

There is the rare chance that that pain can signify a problem, so if you develop a fever over 101 degrees Fahrenheit, the pain gets increasingly worse, or it lasts longer than 3 weeks, you'll want to run it by your doc. (Anytime you have a concern or feel something is "not right", feel free to contact your team. That's what they're there for!).

If anyone develops a fever of 102 or higher during the first 2 months postop, he/she should go straight to the ER.

Contact your surgeons office I had a follow up appointment yesterday and one of the questions they asked me was about shoulder pain. Though I didn't have any I suspect it may be a sign of something. Better to be safe than sorry later on.

I had an appointment with my surgeon yesterday. He said it was normal and eventually it will go away.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
