Discouraged. 3 weeks post op.

Recommended Posts

Hey GB family,

I’m super discouraged today. I’m two weeks and five days post op. I’ve only lost 15 lbs from surgery weight (311). I thought I’d be losing more weight.I’m only worrying because l’m at a stand still. Has anyone had this problem? The scale is just not moving !! My 1-month post operative appointment is in 10 days. I’m afraid that’s not enough weight for 1 month..

You are in the "three week stall". Usually lasts for a week or two. Stalls will happen regularly. It's a normal part of the process, and doesn't mean you're doing anything wrong... and there is nothing that will fix it. When your body is ready, the scale will move again.

The average weight loss for the first month is 15-25lbs. So you are already there! I lost 17lbs myself.. totally normal.

Wow! A pound a day is great! You are definitely in the above average group :)

I do want to let you know that for most people the scale will bounce up a few pounds here and there. When it happens, don't panic, because its just Water weight.

I am 8 weeks post bypass and the losses have been a bit unpredictable. I came out of hospital about 8lbs heavier than when I went in. I had a lot of Fluid and had to wait for that to go. The first month I lost 36lbs but I stalled between weeks 2-3. I just stuck with the plan and eventually it started moving. Since surgery I have been back in hospital twice for other things and had a different surgery and BAM full of fluid again! That one is just starting to go and I have two more surgeries coming up. I think this month might be a bust. Considering all the stops and starts since 2 week liquid diet to now (10weeks) I have lost just under 60lbs happy with that. The dietitian gives me the plan I follow it whether I'm stalled it not and just trust the process

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
