Raw veggies

Recommended Posts

According to my program I can not have raw veggies for a bit yet (I am 8 weeks post op) and all I want is a freaking salad! Greek salad too! Of course they would have my Protein first but sheesh this waiting is driving me insane and making me sick of the things I can eat! Does anyone know why we can't have raw veggies?

It is harder to digest raw vegetables. So early on would not be advisable

Raw veggies are extremely fibrous, which can be difficult on the gastrointestinal system. You might be itching for it, but don't give in!!

I feel ya! My surgeon allows raw veggies (except for the uber-fibrous ones like carrots and celery) at 6 weeks as long as you've been tolerating foods well. He advises to really chop up lettuce very fine. This last Monday I hit 6 weeks. I've had cabbage, romaine, zucchini, sweet potatoes, bell peppers, olives and pickles with absolutely no problems. Just chew, chew, chew the heck out of them.

I don't know why you can't but I was cleared at 6 weeks for all foods, and never had any issues.

I was cleared around 35 days for all foods except for steak, which is 3 months to never. I’ve had grilled and steamed veggies and have a Trader Joe’s Chinese chicken salad waiting for me but I am a little nervous.

Tomorrow I’m making a Mediterranean quinoa salad that I’m super excited about.

I don’t advocate cheating on plans but my doctor seems to have one of the most strict one I’ve heard of and I was allowed them 3 weeks before you.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
