Vegetarian diet anyone?

Recommended Posts

Have stopped eating meat...any one else a vegetarian out there? How do I keep low carb/ high Protein? I am still eating dairy and eggs! Advice?

Only thing I can think of is eggs and protein shakes.. Also, have you tried Fairlife milk ( 13 grams) and Special K protein Cereal ( 10 grams )? They also make a chocolate milk.

I was a lacto-ovo-peco-tarian ( a vegatarian who eats eggs, milk products, and fish) for a year. I got Protein from cottage cheese, greek yogurt, hummus, Peanut Butter, soy Beans, quinoa, and protien bars.

Everything KristyAB said. There is also a nut milk (cashew and almond) by Silk with 10g of Protein. eggs and dairy have a lot of protein. Grains like quinoa have a lot of protein. And of course, edamame, tofu, seitan, nut butters, Beans and hummus (from chickpeas.)

Totally doable. There are many of us here doing a more plant based diet. I don't worry about Protein and carbs, but I do have an egg and some cheese occasionally. I'm mostly doing vegan though.

There are a few threads under food and Nutrition:Vegetarian and Vegan Eating if you'd like to join and discuss.

I haven't been sleeved yet, but I used to be a vegan and plan on returning to it. For the first couple of months or first year i will probably be peco vegetarian. Vegetarian and vegan products have really bombarded the market. Vega has some great 20 gram Protein Shakes. There's a vegan Protein weight loss shake pgx satisfast with 20 grams. Garden of life has a whopping 28 grams. If whey is your thing body fortress has 30 grams for one scoop/ 60 for 2. All low carb/ low sugar. Hope this helps.

I'm 3 and 1/2 years out and vegan. No worries. Plenty of Protein. Plenty to eat. I'm at 110. I don't think I could gain weight if I tried. Not being vegan and doing it right.

Have you tried TVP ( textured vegetable protein)...... I made meatloaf with it three nights ago and my kids couldn't tell the difference. Tonight I am making chili with it. I don't think they'll be able to tell the difference with the chili either.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
