How much exercise is everyone doing ?

I run about 3 times a week and bicycle once a week. I'm not really an athlete, so I work with a running/cycling coach to keep my honest :-) If I don't have a commitment to someone else, I won't do it. (Because if I was good at committing to myself, I'd have lost the weight long ago! LOL!)

Sounds like a good idea. Do you do weights as well?

Not yet ... I know I need to do strength training, but I haven't been able to fit it into my schedule yet. In the meantime, my running coach is giving me some strength exercises to do at home. Have I done them at home yet? Not quite! :-|

I spend roughly 1-1.5 hours at the gym 3-4 times a week. Typically 30-45 minutes of cardio and 30-45 minutes of weight training. Maybe a little longer on cardio depending on what’s on TV. They always have food Network on and I’m a sucker for Chopped, what can I say [emoji23]

I do a Pilates reformer class two days a week to help my core and orange theory one to two days a week. I get one leisurely walk in a week too but it’s 3 miles. I’m trying to set realistic goals so I don’t feel like I’m failing if I can’t make it, like when I have a sick kid home

I do 25-50 minutes at a time, shooting for around 4 hours worth a week. I do about half cardio and half strength machines. This is new for me, though. until it got miserably cold here in Chicagoland, I went hiking 5-6 days a week. I'm trying to make this a thing.

I fairly recently started strength training with a trainer 2x per week. It is only 30 minutes per session but the trainers say more is not necessary. We work at exhausting each muscle group in the 30 minute period. They say to add 1 HIIT per week but I haven’t started that! Hence why I work with a trainer because I’m not good at getting it done on my own!!

I use to walk trails before it got to cold here in Missouri, and i got a bike for Christmas from my hubby. Hoping to use that in a few more months. Need to go to gym untill weather warms up, but im so guilty of doing nothing since its got cold. Need to quit using weather as an excuse and get back to gym!!

Hi Amy,
You are not alone. I am down 50 lbs and have had long stalls that I can track to my diet. I went back to a Protein Shake every morning. All Protein (boiled eggs, dense meat) and green veggies. I eat string cheese for Snacks and occasionally I have an orange or blackberries. No chocolate (unless it's my shake).

I started this on Tuesday and am down another 3 lbs. I also reached back out to my Nutritionist. I was eating the wrong foods and not enough calories. Refocus on Protein.

All of a sudden I am getting horrible stomach aches post acidic foods, even lemon in my Water is upsetting my stomach. I had a half of banana and and was in such pain, that acidic stomach ache, and I didn’t even think they were that acidic. I’m now running around with Rolaids in my mouth like my grandmother used to when I was a kid. I never was prescribed an antacid like Pepcid other than when I had to take steroids for 5 days about 10 weeks out in October. I have several bottles of Rx strength Pepcid left over, maybe I should start taking it. Anyone else having similar issues?

That hasn't happened to me, but the Pepcid sounds reasonable. Give your doctor a call.

Hey August sleevers!! We are at our 6 month milestone(give or take a few days)! This thread should be buzzing! I opted for the no weigh February until my 6 month surgiversery on the 14th (valentine's yay) then nothing until the end of the month. How is everyone doing? How do you feel at this point? How is life treating you? Have you reached goal? Are you close, halfway? It's crazy it's already been 6 months. I feel as if I'm still in preop doing the 6 month requirements. I know our journeys are our own and we should take pride in all our hard work. Let's share our successes and concerns and rejoice overall. We have come so far[emoji119][emoji119]

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
